Here's my Flygon team like I promised. To be absolutely honest, my Trick/Explosion is top tier as it beats the crap out of...every kind of team. Unfortunately like I said before, Flygon devastated that team one time due to bad prediction. In response to that and Flygon's promotion to OU, I decided to make a team focused on Flygon. Another reason is because I have an upcoming match with my cousin who I've been itching to beat in Pokemon for a long time. The only time I "technically" beat him was when he was playing with a Japanese version of Pearl and he had a Choice Scarf Gengar out against something Gengar countered (I forgot). So I switched to something weak to Psychic (I also forgot). Then he was declared, "PSYCHIC MOTHER******", but to both our surprises, Gengar used Hypnosis instead. At that time, the pokemon I switched in was the second pokemon to be put to sleep (my first one being like Tangrowth or something). Anyway, he fled the battle and turned off the DS. Unfortunately for me, my game considered it as a connection error. So I didn't even win that.
tl;dr version: I never beat my cousin, I hope this team works.
EDIT: It worked, I won...barely.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
-Thunder Wave/Leech Seed
-Stealth Rock
-Grass Knot
-Recover
Okay, here’s my lead and my bulky water killer. I set up Stealth Rock and paralyze their foe or the other way around. Unfortunately, Pursuit scares me. I was considering U-turn, but I’d have to change the EV’s around and lose the support my team essentially needs. Anyway, most people expect Leech Seed, so that’s why I take Thunder Wave. However, Leech Seed would help my other pokes. If I see an Aerodactyl, I guess I’ll Grass Knot (something like 100 BP?) which should 2HKO Aerodactyl w/Focus Sash.
Tyranitar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sandstream
EVs: 6 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SpAtk)
-Dragon Dance
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Aqua Tail
This monster always has room on my team. The only thing I fear with this beast out on this team is Alakazam, but who’s willing to switch Alakazam in against a Ttar? Anyway, I DD on switch out and proceed to sweep. This thing is my steel tractor beam. I encourage Scizor, Skarmory, Bronzong and anything that can counter this. Floating Psychics having nothing on this Ttar. Life Orb for extra damage, Vaporeon covers my Hp through Wish Passing.
Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 Hp / 252 Def / 68 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
-Wish
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Roar/Hidden Power Electric
This has got to be my favorite Eevee evolution. Simply divine. Wish for that crucial support my team needs. As of now, I’m taking Roar over Hidden Power Electric, but I might regret that when I see a Gyarados switching in. Then again, most people know when to switch when they see a Vaporeon and Roar will help me rack up residual damage. Surf covers my Infernape/Heatran weakness. Ice Beam covers my Dragon/Gliscor weakness.
Flygon (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 Hp / 252 Atk / 176 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw
-U-turn
Here’s the star of my team. My whole team is focused on getting this guy to sweep. Originally, I wanted to use a Choice Band after I saw how much damage this guy could cause, but once I finished my team, I realized that all my other pokes focus on taking out Flygon’s counters for the Choice Band set. Therefore, I decided to change to Choice Scarf. Everything is self explanatory.
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 Hp / 252 SpAtk / 216 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Thunderbolt
-Substitute
-Magnet Rise
-Hidden Power Fire/Explosion
Now, for my Flygon’s coverage, I shall use a Magnezone.
A long time ago when I got into competitive Pokemon (during R/S/E), I used a Magneton on my team for a battle with my cousin. At the time, my cousin packed a Dugtrio on his team when he saw I was raising a Magneton. He switched in Dugtrio when I had my Magneton out, then he told me to go switch out. I actually tried that. When he saw I couldn’t do anything and he just lol’d. I raged hard.
tl;dr version: Dugtrio>Magneton
Sorry, but I wanted to share that. I plan to do the same in return in case he uses a Scizor or Skarmory. Anyway, I pick Hidden Power Fire over the other Hidden Powers because of Scizor. The EV’s are dedicated to outrunning Scizors that run the SD set. I’ll start to setup with Substitute to scout the set. If I see a SD, I’ll Hidden Power Fire without a second thought even though Thunderbolt+EV’s will still achieve the same result albeit a 2HKO. In addition, my other pokes cover the other potential Hidden Powers. Besides, once I have Magnet Rise up, I don’t expect Swampert/Rhyperior to do much to me and I need a good Hidden Power. So I plan to outstall them. On the other hand, I could avoid all this with Explosion over Hidden Power Fire or by switching to Celebi for that Grass Knot.
Gengar (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SpAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Shadow Ball
-Hypnosis
Gengar is overall one of my favorite pokes because it’s GAR. Speaking of Gengar, why did they make Ghost Physical in the old days? The only Ghost Poke back in Gen 1 had crazy high Special Attack, yet Ghost was Physical? Whatever…Gengar switches in safely for some pokes on my team like Magnezone for Latias or something and Tyranitar for Focus Blast. On the other hand, Magnezone can switch in for Scizors once my opponent sees my Substitute and Tyranitar switches in for Psychic attacks. This Gengar is especially GAR for dealing with Blissey. Ironically, this pokemon does serve as a threat to my team as well. Depending on the poke, I have to switch through Magnezone and Flygon to beat it.
Well here's my team. Suggestions/recommendations/comments?
