Since second gen, huh? Back when those were new, I had no idea that competative battling like this existed. I didn't learn about this side of battling until about a little over a year ago, and the team that you battled is actually my first team. And very recent at that. With your experience, I'm sure you can vouch for how much there is to learn.
And I agree about Slowbro. I'll probably replace TWave, seeing as even with the opponent's speed cut, Slowbro won't be outspeeding anything itself. Flamethrower might be interesting, although that doesn't help with the bulky waters. Maybe Signal Beam from the Plat. tutor? Not sure though.
No, Bastiodon wasn't Focus Sashed; it had Leftovers. And I definatley get what you're saying about the typing. My Bastiodon has yet to survive a battle.
Your Skuntank sounds much more efficient than mine.
Skuntank @ Life Orb: Aftermath
Hasty; 252 Atk, 204 Spd, 54 SpAtk
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
- Toxic
Not to say it's bad; I've gotten more successful use out of it than I really expected. It just lacks... strategy I guess? I feel like I should replace Toxic. I actually have yet to use it with this set- it's kind of the odd move out.
My only recommendation, since Stuntank has okay defenses and decent HP is to go with Dark Pulse over Crunch. Toxic is okay, your one thing is you have to use it on a switch. Or try to force a switch and use it. Which is me saying the same thing. You're not using a bad set, but mixing your EVs would prove better with an all out attacking set. If you want to keep your spread you're better off with something like Explosion/Fire Blast/Sucker Punch/Sludge Bomb. Unfortunately your coverage isn't great but Sludge Bomb is a good STAB attack, and Sucker Punch can effectively pick off faster fragile pokemon. You probably won't 1 shot them but you can probably 2 hit them or something.
