So I finally got wii points, but now I don't know what to buy, so I just now thought of making a topic where you post your favorite wii shop downloads.
so far I really like kirby for the ness, and kirby's dreamland 3 for the sness
secrets of mana (a live action fighting/rpg game) is extremely addicting, especially with an up to 3 player co-op mode
ogre battle (strategy game) is kinda fun but it doesn't make enough sense to me to fully enjoy it.
mario rpg seems extremely overrated (in the sewer, I'm killing all the rats and shades in one hit and taking 1 damage from them, but in the same dungeon are boo's who ko me in 2-3 hits with bolt and lightning sphere.
With the exception of the 64 I refuse to buy VC games because the systems I own still work, so if I wanted to play a game that badly I'd bring out the cart. It's not like emulators don't exist, either. The first game I bought was Mario Kart 64, my favorite of the kart games. Not long afterward a buddy came over and helped me wreck Grand Prix to unlock everything.
The internet channel is meh anyway, but handy in a pinch. Earlier in January I couldn't get into my room with my computer, so I used my lounge TV to surf the net. Extreme pain in the ass, but it was the only way I could check my mail.
As for games, I'm more than willing to buy WiiWare stuff if it entices me. I bought MegaMan 9, Bomberman Blast, and Gradius Rebirth. I enjoy playing all three and haven't neglected any of them, for the most part, but MM9 is by far my favorite and I planned to buy it the moment I knew it was being made. Bomberman Blast is really fun with other people and even the CPU at times, but wifi is plagued with hackers so I steer clear. I've only had Gradius Rebirth for a few days, but even with my limited experience with shmups it's fun, addicting, and hard as nails. They made it very accomodating for novice players so I've been able to get very far without getting TOO frustrated.
I haven't gotten World of Goo, but now it's irrelevant as a friend gave it to me for the PC. Otherwise I've yet to find anything else I'd be willing to drop 10 or more bucks on.
I'd like to point out that the NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System and the SNES stands for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, so there's not another 'S' tacked on the end of each.
As for VC games, Paper Mario by far. I have a few other favorites, mostly from before I had access to emulators. Most of the 2D Mario series is located handily on my hard drive. I haven't delved much into Wiiware yet, though, as I haven't recently bought any points. I'd like to get my hands on Megaman 9, but I don't see much else that interests me there.
I looked and in most cases at my gamestop, it's cheaper to just spend the 8 dollars downloading snes (lol shadian, does it really matter) games. The reason I like the internet channel is because I finally have internet in my room.
If you buy your own computer and have that in your room, the internet thing is moot. Plus as I said, it's much more annoying to surf the net on the Wii than it is using a comp.
I'm not sure I'd buy SSB for the VC if/when it was released in NA, but I'd consider it.
Well I use homebrew to run some fun games like the original quake, which by the way is the best shooter so far for the Wii. I really do agree on paper mario and I also love to play the original smash bros on it to. The good thing about the hacked smash bros is that there are rumors for possible online play.
