>_< I'm in the school musical, a Techie. Stagehand, to be exact. I love it, but this week (the week before we put on the show), we're staying until 11:00 PM every night. Not fun. Ah well. I don't do homework, that's all. Damn though, this is fun. It helps that I have an insanely good set of stagehands this year. We're doing Back to the 80's. This is one of the songs we're doing.
In my four years of high school we had only ever done a measly two plays, and both times the stagehand positions were snatched up almost immediately. It's cool that you don't have to do homework, though; all our school allowed them to do was to come in three hours late while the thing was in production (I think they stayed up to 11 as well.)
I graduated in a class of 82 students, and I don't think that number was much different freshman through junior years, which probably had something to do with why we only did two plays.
My high school actually has 1200+ students in it, one of the biggest in Maine IIRC. There are about 100 students total working on the play, so we get to meet a lot of people.
Also, I never said we were exempt from homework, I just don't do it during this week. My teachers get annoyed, but know we can't do much about it.
Ah, I know how you feel; next week will be hell week for our fall play, The Man Who Came to Dinner. Although I have to wonder why I have to stay the entire time when I'm on stage for less than five minutes...
last year our play was The Outsiders, and (assuming you read the book) like 100 other guys and I all fought in the rumble scene. It was pretty damn epic.
