It's true. But wait, how?
Well, some of you have been wondering what the points system is for. The rest of you are just blind. I suggest you be honest and vote what you think, because it serves two purposes.
1) Points in the future will help parse out what is worth a damn, and what sucks.
2) Every point you get (+1 or -1) goes towards your overall points, everyone starts with 100. For everyone 1,000 points you get in total, you get $1.
This includes points you've already earned/lost.
This is also why creating multiple accounts is against the rules, and trust me, I'll be keeping track of it.
While you won't be able to get your money just yet (nobody is up to 1,000), this isn't a bad time to start contributing content of whatever sort and getting people to vote you up. And you should also vote others up or down, depending on what you think.
We need to work out with the lawyers and the Terms of Service exactly how to handle this, but trust me, you'll get your money if you contribute.
There are mechanisms to keep people from always voting up or always voting down, also flood voting a user is also banned, so you can't have a "everyone vote down Fantasty" day.
Currently the person with the highest points is Ruesap, and it's probably because he's contributed some of the best to the site in recent months, since we started the point system.
It's taking a while for me to get all up I promised because there are so many sites in The Hive currently being worked on. Your points follow you all over the hive, so you can contribute anywhere and it will help you everywhere.
Remember: be honest, vote honest, contribute.
Be sure to check out:
http://projectparanormal.org/community/forums/ which we just launched, so many things don't work for now, but contribute to the forums if you're interested in the paranormal/UFOs/ghosts/big foot/whatever.
If you have any questions about this system, be sure to post in here.
