Thanks for the tip! It's sure gonna be fun not having to delete over 9000 e-mails every day.

Part 41 of Pokémon Emerald, where we bear witness to one of the localization team's oddest mistakes...

Also, yesterday I favorited a video showing some tips for Minesweeper Sudoku, so if you suck at it, go check it out!

Once I have the game, it'll come in handy.

Damn. I tried Wily's castle in MM7, and after being utterly destroyed by the Robot Master gauntlet (IMO the most difficult in the series so far) several times. I managed to get to Wily's final form with three E-tanks, four W-tanks and one S-tank. And I STILL got completely destroyed. This is ridiculous... I had to give up all my hard-earned progress... I might (read: will) try again at some other point in time. At least I know what everything will throw at me, which DID come in handy in my final attempt on MM2. Might need to collect a few more screws though. No doubt about it, this is more difficult than MM2, because the gauntlet wasn't THAT hard there. Burst Man in particular is just insane.

You're not just bitching, either; MM7 Wily Capsule is regarded as the most irritatingly difficult final boss in the series. I don't think I've ever beaten that thing without feeling compelled to down at least one tank.

Yeah, when the best option available is to jump straight into the lightning bolts so that you don't get frozen by the fire or ice... and I know that when he's low enough, hitting with the Thunder Bolt doesn't do damage, but you don't have to deal with those elemental attacks. And still I got obliterated.

Edit: Well... I'm back to stage 4, after a much easier time in the first three. This has been a perfect replica of my MM2 playthrough so far... here's to hoping the ending's the same as well! Otherwise... I might just say screw this and move on to MM8.

Edit 2: YES! Oh. My. God. I wish you were there. I won't get better Burst Man and Slash Man battles in my entire life, and I did the gauntlet losing one life and no E-tank. And the kicker? I used every E-tank and my S-tank on the final battle, and won with ONE BAR LEFT! The trick to the battle is to be extremely quick when he appears in the middle of the screen, nail a Freeze Cracker as soon as he appears, then jump again and T-bolt at as short a range as possible so that he gets hit before he fires off his elemental attacks. I heard you can dodge those entirely, but I can't possibly do that...

And as for the credits, what does a "2m50cm Man" do anyway?

*shrug*

I dodge the four targeting shots often, takes some quick slides and jumps to get out of the way. The problem comes from me inevitably screwing that up a few times, and I'm horrible at button mashing out of the fire one in order to avoid taking a ton of damage from it.

Good for you, you're a lot more skilled than I am. That paragraph sounded more like me fighting the Yellow Devil. And that abomination is a notch or a million above the Yellow Devil. It was so bad, whenever I saw a lightning attack, I went OMGYELLOWYELLOWYELLOW and jumped straight into it to avoid the fire and ice ones.

Good stuff!

If you're a 2D Metroid fan, and obviously you're warming up to MegaMan, might I recommend Cave Story, released on WiiWare today? It's far more Metroid than MegaMan, but it's fun as freaking hell. Exploration and gunning at its finest.

Looks like Emerald isn't ready as of this edit.

Yep, YouTube decided to take a day off, it seems. Still processing five hours after the upload.

I might look at that game once I'm done with the Megaman series. Also, I like 2D Metroid, but I honestly prefer the Primes.

Cave Story is a fun game regardless of whether you like Megaman or Metroid. Plus, there's enough secret weapons, bosses and endings to keep an OCD-level completionist like yourself busy for a while. It has a decent level of difficulty, as well. There are some bosses who will will make you grind your teeth in frustration, but it's SO worth it. If you don't want to pay anything, it actually started as a freeware game before making the jump to Wiiware. I'm not sure what added features the Wii version has, or how expensive it is, but whether or not you buy it, definitely look into the freeware game at some point. One of the best 2D-platformer shooting blends I've ever played.

There we go, part 42 finally went up at some point today.

Random unrelated thought of the day: wherever you look today, it's Obama, Obama, Obama. And just to highlight how different the Canadian and American cultures are, up here everyone's rejoicing, and south of the border it's the end of the world. So I reiterate my offer: if you don't want him, we can always take him off your hands. Maybe he could do something with the problems our health care system has...

I just find all the freaking out funny. I don't see too many flaws with the healthcare bill passing, and in my opinion, it's better than what we had before. I don't mind paying a little more to support a better healthcare system. Of course, once I bring that point out, everyone ignores my opinion just because I'm not quite on my own yet and won't be paying taxes for a couple more years. It's almost like I'm not an intelligent human being who can think for himself, just because I'm in high school.

For what it's worth, it seems better thought out than what we have as well, and we've had that system for eons. Not even a trillion dollars over a decade in a country that has ten times our population? I'm impressed. And lots of Americans are blissfully unaware of that. They're not helping the self-centered, egotistical reputation they have abroad.

Of course, the problems of our own system have been the subject of a lot of talk lately... we're in dire need of doctors, nurses and the whole shebang, and yet it's the desk workers which have the highest growth in our health system. Furthermore, aspiring doctors and nurses can't find jobs here, despite the aforementioned need (yes, we're covered in merde THAT MUCH), so they go to other countries like Switzerland! A satiric reporter put it best when he said the question at the next independence referendum shouldn't be "Do you want Quebec to separate from Canada?", it should be "Do you want to be Norway?"

Now, don't get me wrong, I DO understand the concern about lazy people who don't want to work exploiting the system... but I think it's unfair to handicap the people who DO work and still can't afford anything pertaining to health care because of them. It's a choice we made, and admittedly there's no miracle recipe with no drawbacks, but nonetheless I think Americans in general are unaware of how cost-effective Obama's plan actually is, because they've never known anything else than their current reality. I've lived in Canada my whole life, so I can compare, and I can tell you, it sounds to me like it could have been so much worse.

Edit: Suddenly I feel the urge to name my character "Cynthia" in Platinum.

Edit 2: Somebody explain to me... why can't America make the jump to metric when everyone else did?

I've been wondering that for a long time, not to mention why we still use Fahrenheit.

Don't listen to the goth faggots, America. There's nothing wrong with conformity!

It's not conformity as much as convenience. Everything in metric is 10 this, 10 that. How many feet are in a mile? I don't know the exact number! It's just above 5000, I think, but what kind of random number is that?

It would definitely be better if we switched, though initially I think I'd be just as lazy as every other American and complain about the change and having to learn and implement a new system. I mean, I know the metric system already, but doing all the conversions in my head would make me irritable until I got used to it.

Still... Just switch over, America. There's no point anymore, if there ever was one in the past.

5280 feet in a mile, 1760 yards.

The benefit of making the change, for me, is that I'm already a horrible judge at distance by sight, so making calculations for other purposes is as far as I'd have to go, and it wouldn't come into play all that often. I already use the metric system with food.

Part 46 up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZjQcq_ChEQ&fmt=18

I began MM8 today and did the intro stage, and the first three Robot Masters (well, the first four sans Frost Man), and I'm still cleaning up blood in my ears. I have never, EVER seen voice acting so horrid before, and that's not even an exaggeration. From now on, whenever someone complains about bad voice acting in whatever, I'll just say, "I played Megaman 8. Your turn."

Also, fail of the day:

Edit: Whoa, the site is back up! And how things changed since then... not going to link to every video I've done since then, they're all on my channel. Emerald's up to 55, SMB3 to 19.

I beat both MM8 and 9 in the meantime, and did Sheep Man in 10, along with a quick test of the MM10 weapons in Time Attack... is it me, or is the arsenal quite disappointing? The Thunder Wool in particular could have the ammo clip of the Quick Boomerang and I'd still have trouble using it, but SEVEN? SEVEN Thunder Wools? Coming off of MM9, which has by far the best arsenal in the series (not one weapon that ranks below great!)... laaaaame. I also picked up the Mirror B. (SALSA!!!), which looks like something I might have lots of fun with...

Edit 2: Speaking of the secret weapons, I just found a video of someone hacking access to the Screw Crusher and Ballade Cracker, and... those look at least as good as any of the regular weapons, if not better? I'm really hoping they didn't do that on purpose, having the regular weapons be so weak and then making the better ones DLC.

I found the MM10 weapons to be disappointing as well. Coming from MM9, it was just... Bland. The whole of MM10 didn't live up to the bar MM9 set, in my opinion. The stage design was the high point.

Is there a problem with the quickpost option or something? Testing...

Yep, there's a problem alright. Anyway, I decided to wait until the last two special stages become available before continuing, because if there's a way I can avoid overusing a decidedly average weapon because most of the roster sucks so much, like I did with the Power Stone, I will do it. So I'll continue when the Screw Crusher and Ballade Cracker are available. The latter looks especially good, like a Drill Bomb with double ammo. I even heard it could be aimed in 7 directions for that chibi-Metal Blade effect the Wheel Cutter fails so hard at. So at least there's an interesting explosive weapon there, the Commando Pillow isn't going to do it for me.
