You very briefly ranted on Bug Catchers still using crappy mons with crappy moves, but to my surprise you didn't remark that no game ever pulled this as blatantly or annoyingly as D/P. Post-7th and 8th gym trainers using first stage pokes with abysmal EXP, and IIRC even one or two assholes in Victory Road throws crap like a Gastly at you.

The double battle with Mars and Jupiter were also a bit irksome with their two Bronzors.

Yeah, GF must've thought really highly of Bronzong to do that. Maybe they feared the whole "only one weakness, tons of resistances" thing...?

Yeah, DPP had problems there, but I still think the summum of uselessness is the trained cocoons not having String Shot, Tackle and/or Poison Sting. There's no excuse for that, none at all.

You know what I'd like to see? Trainers using TMs, egg moves, move tutors, level-up moves before their time, stuff like that. And I'm talking regular trainers there, not just high-end ones like Cyrus and his Heat Wave Honchkrow.

Edit: Part 8 is up, for real this time!

Also, it's time for...

...as I'm wondering how to deal with a particularly tough obstacle coming soon. Please help!

If your so worried about your voice being annoying, you could just add subtitles.

Slow when you want people to come to libelldra to post something here, incase if they are not a member, you need to post the website url.

Didn't I say, either on YouTube or Libelldra? I thought I did... better go check.

Edit: I did. 6:47 to be precise.

Edit 2: Putting a link to Libelldra was a good idea regardless, so I added an annotation at that spot in the video.

IIRC G/S/C trainers did that a bit, Slowflake- I mean random trainers using TM or egg moves at least. One Cooltrainer had the Bulbasaur trio and all three knew Body Slam, and a Bellossom user (not Erika) had Solarbeam.

For that Raticate - I'd go all offense. Partly because when I played Blue I never had any non-offensive moves. But I'm also the person who taught Water Gun to a Rattata becuase I thought it was a good idea...after choosing a Squirtle >_> I remember the good old days...

Yeah, ShadianVise posted on YouTube, and he seemed to imply that a 2HKO was possible provided I gained one or two more levels before I get there. Dantmotckc, on the other hand, says I should try Leech Seed, but not Poisonpowder.

It goes without saying, though, I'll be doing a special trip just for that guy, by going to the Pokémon Center right before and after, running away from all the wild battles I encounter, for once.

Edit: Part 9 uploaded!

I believe that a 2HKO is possible, with Ivysaur's Base SPA being 80, and Raticate's Base HP being 60 and it's SPD being 70. I don't know if you could survive a critical Hyper Fang, but you definitely should be able to survive a non critical HF. It does have a nasty Base 81 ATK, but it shouldn't OHKO you.

Then again, I've made no calculations whatsoever due to lack of a knowledge of the battle system and lack of a reliable R/B damage calculator or formula, and lack of stats from your Ivysaur and the Raticate. The Raticate isn't memorable to me, so it can't have been that bad. I've gotten past it tons of times as a 6-year old, apparently, so I doubt it will be that much trouble.

In any case, save state before the Grunt and try a certain tactic, then if that doesn't work, reload the state and try again with a different tactic.

Oh god THAT Raticate. The Grunt from hell. I had to reset the game so many times because of that thing, my first time around.

I've gotta say this is pretty cool. Besides the fact that you're running through a big game of my childhood, which is always fun to see through. Your commentary is great. Maybe it is a little early to tell, but you've been doing good in always having something to tell, it's way better than just listening to some guy saying "um" all of the time. All in a not as familiar language too (right?), keep up the work, it's been really good I think.

Okay, what in the blue hell is going on? It says Truthiness posted here, but I don't see anything. Maybe if I post I'll see it...

Oh, super, now I don't see what I just posted either. Fantastic.

Sorry for the double-posting BTW.

Edit: Oh wait, NOW I understand. The time zone used by the forum moved back from Greenwich to the Pacific time zone, thus ****ing up the post order.

Both a Bellsprout and an Ekans in part 9..., are you going to slam Wrap and Bind like you did Sleep?

I might. Good thing you're allowed to switch out of these in RBY, else it'd be totally broken. And forcing a switch and doing damage is already good enough...

In-game it's especially useful in combo with Toxic, since the AI doesn't know how to switch. Cloyster and Moltres are particularly effective at this.

Edit: Another departure from Pokémon - this time, it's an exposition of SSBB screenies I found all around the Internet. Why? Because I can.

lol, I beat that raticate because I sucked at the game. Since I couldn't read yet, I didn't know you could switch the order of your pokemon or even go to a pokemon center. I just caught a new pokemon everytime an old one fainted. I actually got to cerulean before crying in a fit of rage from being killed by misty.... wait that's it, just catch a geodude, train it till level 11, and beat the guy with that.

Edit 2: Something's wrong with part 12... the processing's still not complete, and it's been uploaded for hours. I'll give it some time, but if it doesn't work I'll try uploading it again tomorrow.

What about the moving truck in R/S? Or does that not count as a car.

IIRC, there are 4 Pokemon that need Moonstones and 5 available ingame. Quite convenient(sp)?

Actually, the same thing has been happening with me. My channel introduction is still processing after hours, while my other video made it fine in just a few minutes.
