Maybe... we DID have a doubles fight with Steven in Emerald, after all. Where his team was still very far away from the 70s to say the least, and not fully evolved, even. Must've gone to Johto and blackmailed Buena for hundreds of Rare Candies afterwards...
Apart from some dialogue tweaks (or, hell, if they don't change the opening with Dragonite attacking the guy inside the entrance, it can be a simple matter of Lance not having it during the battle) it wouldn't be too absurd for Lance to have a mild roster during that fight. If they take the badly needed measures of buffing the levels and pokes of most things you face, it wouldn't be absurd for Lance to have, say, a Dragonair, Gyarados and Charizard on him. Well, I dunno about the latter two. I figure GameFreak wants them to be held back enough that the player has to do the bulk of the work, but I have a hard time thinking of how they could do that without pulling a Barry and giving him plain shit to use. Lance's pokemon preference doesn't leave a lot of room for low-end first and second-gen pokes.
Dragonair would just spam Thunder Wave for you and launch the occasional STAB move, and otherwise be useless (not that par support is anything to sneeze at.)
The plan right now is to post one last video on Tuesday, and I can confirm right now that I won't get to Mahogany in the next video. Remember that fisherman who gave me his number last video? Well, just as I was ready to pick up a black apricorn, he called me saying he got something for me, and just as I suspected, it was a Water Stone. I recorded the whole thing just to be safe, but instead of Mahogany I'll be heading to the Ruins of Alph.
Nope, as I said I'll be only focusing on Raikou and Entei. This is a great opportunity to do so without having to wait, like, two weeks between two videos because the blasted things wouldn't show up.
Keep your fingers crossed for a better Kanto and a pokedex that doesn't suck total ass and exclude all the new pokes until some arbitrary condition has been met.
Quite frankly I'm not sure if I should even expect either.
But seriously, stopping the LPs for now seems to pay off, and we're only two days in. Looks like they fixed the level curve... DENIED. Looks like they made Azumarill godly... DENIED. I would've looked so bad if I kept making videos...
Besides, Raikou and Entei just won't show up, my team gained a few levels just searching for them. I think I even saw a Gazellezag, but still no Raikou and no Entei.
Berry Juice is a hold item again, and I strongly suspect the Berserk Gene will be again, too.
Well, the pokemon locations haven't changed from GS, reportedly, so I'm going to be hacking or trading from Platinum. Don't want to use the same old stuff again, or wait until Kanto for most good guys.
You were right- the pokes that evolve by level up when knowing a move- Tangela, Yanma, Lickitung, Aipom, and Piloswine- are in the Johto dex. Taking note of the type diversity, I think I've found my ingame team (adding Feraligatr.)
Yeah, I just read the post to see for myself. Well, bummer. I thought the Berry Juice made it a given, but I remembered it had been in the game's coding because of 3rd gen, so that's why it's "returned".
I was looking forward to messing with that thing, too. Oh well.
I'm going to look up Aipom, Lickitung and Tangela's locations, because I have the feeling some or all of those may be Kanto-only and will need to be traded from Platinum.
Edit: Actually, I'm good. Some are later than I'd like them to be, but otherwise, I can assemble that team before the E4.
Edit 2: Ooh, that's right! That bastard Yanma is a swarm! This'll take more time than I thought. I think I'm going to have an extremely overleveled Feraligatr for much of the game.
Don't worry, it's better to do that than to pick up temporary team members that suck up experience you won't have on your side anymore once you ditch them.
Besides, unless No$ starts supporting trades between now and when my Platinum LP starts, if I ever do it, I'll probably be soloing Platinum with a Turtwig for quite a while.
Edit: Okay, I don't get it. Raikou and Entei just aren't showing up, and at this rate my team will reach level 40 before I get a whiff of them. Is there some obscure requirement I don't know of or something?
