Well, it did chomp into Salamence's usage a bit... but it still managed to score only #9... a distant one compared to Scizor. I'm curious to see the usage list once Latios gets allowed. Not in March, since it's already underway, but in April. Will Azelf's usage get hurt? What about Salamence, who can pull off the Specs thing with great success?

Oh, and here's Ken's Labyrinth part 26... only five levels to go! Once I find the damn stairs on level 25, that is.

Is it just me, or did one of Serebii's very early pre-Platinum JP release news articles say that Extremespeed was a confirmed move for Skymin? I could have sworn it did, but was looking at it today and noticed it wasn't anywhere in its movelist. I guess it was just me.

Never ever heard of Extremespeed. Air Slash, yes, but not Extremespeed.

It was probably Quick Attack that was mentioned and I made the false assumption that EX would soon follow. *shrug*

Speaking of your first battle containing no ground types, I'm actually a little disappointed that with the addition of several new pokes and types to go with them, they subbed in gym-specific types for the random pokes. I kinda liked that you fought Azumarill in the steel gym, Tentacruel in the ice gym, and so on, because it gave the impression that trainers went to gyms with whatever pokes they had on them and not types corresponding to whatever the leader used. Even if some of them consider themselves underlings of the leader.

But at the same time I hate it when gym leaders fail to have their types, with the 8th gym leader in diamond pearl, I was fine with octillery since it had charge beam, but octillery AND ambipom? WTF? Does ambipom even learn an electric move in diamond and pearl? Even more ironically, if I remember right, he didn't use the
half-assed-defensive-electric-mouse.

I know Ambipom gets Thunderbolt at the very least, which probably means it gets Thunder Wave and Thunder.

Check the comments for part 81, people. Someone accused me of hacking because I showed up at the final gym with levels that are, in fact, perfectly normal at that point in the game.

Edit: Part 27 of Ken's Labyrinth is up! Only four and a half levels to go now!

I downloaded Gradius Rebirth. Fun as hell, addicting, hard as fucking nails. Beat the 4th level boss on my first attempt, noteworthy because god knows how many times I died against the 3rd. Hell, even making it to the 3rd. >_> 4th level itself was nasty, though; floor and ceiling are littered with dinosaur skeletons whose ribcages explode outward in huge waves of shrapnel if you hit them with anything. Took me a few deaths to realise I probably shouldn't be using anything other than straightforward weapons.

Konami went out of their way to make the game forgiving while still being very hard. They pulled a SMB Lost Levels in that once you clear a level or level segment, you unlock it permanently and can start there. Also infinite continues. The Konami Code is there and you can use it more than once, but IIRC no more than 5 times in one playthrough, including game overs. All it does is give you four Options automatically, but that in itself can be damn useful.

If any of you guys like shmups, the game gets thumbs up from me.

Ken's Labyrinth part 28: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrpXmYIf2zE

I haven't taken a final decision on this yet, but I may not come back to Pokémon Red until this one is over. Level 28 should be done in one or two minutes, then it all depends on how level 29 goes. If it's as smooth as level 26, the game should be over in three more videos at most.

Edit: Screw that, next video's Pokémon. Something happened yesterday that prompted me to do that... so part 82 should be done sometime this weekend.

Edit 2: Here it goes!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWTQyiOd9gc

Edit 3: Believe it or not, I managed to wrap up Ken's Labyrinth in just one more video. However, I can't upload the grand finale, since YouTube is acting up... again. Guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see me dominate the last two levels. There's even a part where I come close to making a complete fool of myself to boot.

Edit 4: There we go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r-6VGj1t_M

Oh, you're still using this topic to track down the videos? I imagined everyone who wanted to subscribed, making this topic utterly useless. I had intended on letting it die, but since you (and probably a few other people) still use it...

Well since I come to TLF a couple of times a day it makes no difference whether I see an update in the mail or on the board itself. So I just use the board.

I must say, I really like using Skymin and the alt Rotom forms. I like how Skymin's sprite glares. Makes it look like it wants to kick ass, which is exactly what it does. So fast!

Edit: Oh, hell yeah. I can confirm that there is at least one additional battle with Cyrus that didn't take place in D/P. I love his theme.

Holy shit! How does a level 35 Blissey survive a Seed Flare from a level 63 Skymin (Modest and 252) with at least 1/4th its HP left?! Jesus CHRIST that's some SDef on you, eggy! Well the HP helped, but jesus christ. That thing ate one of the meanest signature moves in the game at nearly half a level difference.

Amusingly the -2 SDef cut enabled Air Slash to OHKO it after the trainer used a Full Restore.

Yes, I know Skymin can't have Seed Flare till 100. I did say I was going to hack my own.

Um... isn't Seed Flare a one-level drop?

Oh, and I haven't done any new videos yet, but I'm planning on doing a blitz tomorrow and make several (and by that I mean four or five) at once. However, I'm withholding them for a few more days... I have my reasons, and you'll see why once we get there.

I can assure you it's a 2-level drop. The words "Harshly fell" are used, not to mention Smogon indicates the same thing.

Seed Flare is extremely nasty with Serenegrace.

Now, why would you think I of all people would get something like that wrong? ;)

...it's a TWO-LEVEL DROP? 120 power, 85 accuracy and 80% chance of a TWO-LEVEL DROP? Off 120 SA and 127 speed?

Suddenly I get a much better idea of why that thing's uber.

I shit you not.

And from what I read on Smogon, Skymin's suspect test was not properly conducted and a few users had votes accepted that were not qualified in the first place because they didn't meet the requirement for what could be considered good judgment.

Even so. There's no ignoring the fact that Seed Flare is an incredibly lethal weapon in its hands.
