Trying to upload KL part 20, but it's taking ****ing forever.

So in the meantime, I'll just talk about something else... I begun playing FF4DS this weekend, and after checking out if using Whyt was worth it, the consensus was that early game, yeah, it's good, since you can max out its Intellect as soon as you get it, and Spirit not long after (when Rosa joins your team, as one may expect).

The problem? How the **** am I supposed to get one perfect score in those goddang mini-games, let alone three? You're supposed to solve 9 problems in a row in Rydia's mini-game... in 60 seconds. That's less than 7 seconds apiece. Even if I was such a math whiz I could figure them out instantly, dragging the numbers and picking the correct operation takes 10 seconds at least. How do people do it?

I've had a bit more success in Rosa's mini-game, but not so much that Whyt's Spirit is anywhere near maxed. In hours of trying, I've had ONE perfect, even with a watch to help me. I'm really starting to think the Majora's Mask rendition of this mini-game was rigged in your favor.

And let's not forget Whyt's impossible to control. It works for Gau, since he's the godliest character in any RPG I've played, but Whyt is no Gau. Especially when I suck so bad at the two mini-games I really need to excel at (and I haven't unlocked the other three yet).

Oh, there's KL part 20!

Someone made a program and uploaded it to some blank webpage for use. All you do is type the numbers into the window there and it figures the equation out for you. Of course you have the game paused while doing it, and dragging the numbers is a matter of being swift about it.

Yeah the time one is just stupid. At least Cecil's goblin slaying thing is kinda fun and easy.

I liked using Whyt lategame for grinding Rydia's levels, as I could have him just spam and counter with Inferno while using the random Whirlwind. Fire absorbent gear ensured he wouldn't die, at least not without gross misfortune. I'd kill the duet of Blue Dragons over and over, it was on a particular floor of Lunar Subterrane.. I remember needing the Sirens, which they let you buy in bulk now.

Part 66 of Pokémon Red! Yeah, as you might tell, I wasn't particularly looking forward to doing that one, given how boring the part I'm in right now is.

Edit: Double dose of Pokémon Red, and the Lavender-Fuchsia path is nearing completion at last!

Yeehaw, dual update.

Say, would you consider doing an LP segment entirely in French as a joke? Maybe if you happened to be doing one for/on April Fool's day? >_>

Wow, that's an excellent idea... too bad the punch will be stolen for anyone who reads this topic, but I'm getting a lot of views from people outside of this site, so... yeah, great idea. For kicks, I'm going to make the video in English first and post that one on April 2, then take the video, erase the commentary and do it all over in French. This is going to be So. Great.

Random fact: April Fools' French name translates into "April Fish", because of an old gag where one tries to stick a paper fish on someone else's back.

Regarding the status-inflicting mages in FFIV, most if not all of the statuses they inflict are of the cure themselves variety, so if you talk to the mage who hit you with that status in the first place, it should be removed.

I wouldn't know, I was warned not to talk to them at all until I recruited the twins, and even then the dancer at the inn should be avoided. I'm playing the DS version if this makes any difference.

Oh yeah, part 71 is now up!

Yeah, I figured that out for myself the first time I played FFIV some five years ago. Admittedly, I never did talk to any of them in FFIV:DS, so that may not work anymore.

I didn't feel like putting my response in a comment, not that I'd have enough space, but here's how I order my moves:

First are the Status/boost/setup moves, you know, Thunder Wave, Trick Room, Swords Dance, that crap. Protect or Sub would also go there.

Then go attacks, arranged generally in order of PP. Close Combat and the like would tend to be last. With multiple 8 PP moves, the one with higher base power would go last. Because I easily forget the PP of any move that isn't 8 or one of the "staples" like boltbeam, that's why I say generally. If Earthquake goes before Crunch, ah well. Those 80-90 BP moves with 15 or 20 PP throw me off easily. In my mind, I kinda just lump them as "lots of uses" whereas Close Combat is.. yep. Few uses. Nothing sucks more than burning through your precious Stone Edges on those fucking Pressure legendaries. Damn you Zapdos! Damn you 80% accuracy!

Then, if I even have it, my recovery/suicide move. Perish Song also fits that bill. Sleep Talk will be placed before Rest as though it's an attack, so Surf and Ice Beam would still go before it.

For a guy like Gyarados or Breloom, it'd go Dragon Dance > Taunt > Attack > Attack and Spore > Substitute > Leech Seed > Attack, though in Breloom's case I haven't liked using the Subseed set in a little while, and in some cases I'd even forego Sub so I could have both Seed Bomb and Stone Edge.

None of that applies ingame.

A personal friend of mine is also into Pokemon and occasionally I would hack his teams for him; on one such occasion he was looking at the computer screen while I ordered his moves and he saw that I put them in a different order than he listed them to me, asked if I did it on purpose, and so without actually saying what I posted up there I basically said I had a way I liked to order my moves. He thought it was really strange, but interesting enough that he tried to figure out my motive and guessed how I'd put them. Not incredibly hard.

..ah yeah. Kinda a long-winded response, but that's actually one of my biggest quirks in Pokemon, or rather one of the only things I care about enough to implement in my hacks, given the chance. Nickname and shinyness don't matter to me and I almost never nickname my guys. Nor do I care where I caught my guys or when/where the egg hatched if I pokesav'd them. The only thing I put thought into apart from clicking a box here or typing a number there is move order.

I order my moves in whatever order Shoddy decides to stick them in. It's not the order I select them in and it's not alphabetical order. I can't figure it out...
In game, I go Attacking in descending order of power(including Stab, Technician, etc.) and then Stat-Up, and then other support, with recovery usually being last.

Curious, but what requests have you been getting, specifically for consoles you don't even own?

I got asked to do Fable 2 and the Halo series lately. There've been a few more before that, I don't really remember what they were. But I do remember thinking, I never played this and that and that.
