Well, that's what happens when you've never played the game. If you've ever played a similar one, like Wolfenstein 3D, then you might still have a better grasp of what's happening than if you weren't familiar with that family of shooters at all.
On another subject entirely... I just did the Antiquity Dimensional Vortex, and all I have to say is, why was the Frozen Cliffs music not used in the original? Best tune in the game by far, and I consider CT to have one of the best soundtracks out there.
As for the Spellslinger... there's a brand new FAQ on GameFAQs that gives its damage formula, and what it boils down to is that it's the same formula as the Crisis Arm... except the damage is QUADRUPLED afterwards! If this isn't an admission that Lucca was horribly flawed from the beginning, I don't know what is.
So let's check out just how effective it'd be on my level 61 Lucca, k? Accuracy is 33, so attack power is 22. Assuming MP ends in 9, 22 * 9 * 4 = 792 damage, plus the random number. That's right, still considerably weaker than the Crisis Arm, even though the Spellslinger has quadruple damage. However, MP's much easier to keep at max than HP is, if that means anything.
Now, compared to the Wondershot. Accuracy still 33, weapon power 250. (250 + 33) * 2/3 = 188 attack, times 2 means regular damage is 376. To calculate the average base damage of the Wondershot, we multiply by 1.16 (don't ask), and the Wondershot's average base damage is 436.
Now, assuming a 99-accuracy Lucca... what do you mean this isn't possible? That's right, not only are there no accuracy tabs in this game (further dooming Marle and Lucca compared to the males and Ayla), but the Crimson Shade doesn't even boost Lucca's accuracy! Meanwhile, Marle's accuracy is increased by the Alabaster Shade, despite the fact that the Venus Bow makes it so SHE DOESN'T NEED ACCURACY TO BEGIN WITH! Stupid game designers.
So the maximum accuracy Lucca can reach is 49, which means Spellslinger damage reaches 1152, while the Wondershot only increases to 462. Meaning the higher your accuracy gets, the bigger the Spellslinger's advantage becomes. So here's to hoping that formula's accurate, because if it's really the same as the Crisis Arm then Spellslinger without crits or Prism Specs or anything doesn't even reach 300 at level 99. And I'll know whether that formula's accurate soon enough, since the Present vortex is up next.
