It seems like bad things keep happening to the people around me, both in real life and in my various internet communities, but why does nothing happen to me? I mean, what's the deal? Certainly I've got more bad karma and deserve whatever misfortune more than they do.

Yeah, I know I should be grateful, but damn, if anyone should have gotten cancer or be in danger of going blind, why them instead of me?

You just notice the dying people more.

It must suck watching all that unfold but take solace in the fact that it's not your fault. Help 'em out if it makes you feel better.

I don't have much experience in this area, because I don't experience death or misfortune happening to others much. You seem like a very humble, for lack of a better word. Very kind. You seem to be willing to take the bad things that happen to people onto yourself.

All I'm saying is, if there is a god out there, maybe he's looking out for you. Maybe you can use your nature to help others with their losses, comfort them when they are down. It's a rare gift to be able to do this effectively. I have a friend who has said similar things to me. He is possibly the most kind, caring person I have ever met, and has helped me through more than one crisis.

Huh. Now that you mention it, my godfather died of prostate cancer earlier this year, and a few months afterward another uncle was diagnosed with it. It was spotted "early" and he had immediate surgery, but now apparently he hasn't recovered since the operation weeks ago and is getting progressively worse.

Myself, I've been dodging bullets so to speak all year.

As it happens my old Biblical teacher was diagnosed with two different types of cancer one of which in his brain, in their late stages just last year. Two. Nobody should have to suffer that death.

Your life hasnt even reallly started yet and you have a long way to go. It's impossible to escape life without tradigy but I would rather face it when I'm an adult rather than a teenager. The scars always run deeper.

My friend died yesterday. He was in a car crash. The glass shards decapitated him. His cousin who was driving is in a coma. I was with him before got in the car. Really made me realize how fragile life is.

Not sure if this in on topic though.
