For those who do not know Bungie has been builiding hype the last two months
for a new halo project. The plan was for them to announce it at E3 and even gave the exact time,  a countdown at their site. he announcment would take place. The timer was set for one day after sony's press conference (a marketing tool; trump the best thing Sony and Nintendo have with the words Bungie, making, new, halo, and game.

Unfortuently 13 hours before the timer ran out, Bungie recieved a call from Microsoft to cancel the game announcment and any other information about the game.

So when the timer was stopped it was exactly twelve hours before the original announcment time. The time it stopped was exactly 7:00 and if any of you know a few things about Bungie then you would know that Bungie has an unhealth obsession with 7. That and the letter on the front page announcing the canceling of the announcment of the new halo game (lolwut?) was written by the "president" of bungie Matt Ryan and was exactly seven lines long. According to wikipedia (which is why you should never use it) Matt was a test, which was true back in 2004 but he apparently became president of bungie. So most people thought the letter was a fake and a mean joke from bungie (its happened before). In the end it wasnt, and the workers at bungie were pissed at us for not believing them.

But at this point we still did not know what they were making, but it was heavily rumoured to be a squad based halo game. However the only time we got confirmation was through an article.

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/07/16/e308-don-mattrick-confirms-that-bungie-is-developing-new-halo/

That above article is the only reason listed for the delays and the confirmation of the new halo.

You spelled my name wrong whore.

Halo sucks, it's overrated, it has the replay value of MMORPGS >_> which is a good thing.

I always thought each shooting game had it's little niche, 007 goldeneye for the N64 is by far the best old shooter, Resident Evil has the best freekout factor and red faction is the most creative but not very well known (the thing that makes it awesome is the fact that all structures are destructible, so say if a tank was coming at you, instead of trying to blow up the tank, you can use less ammo to blow a trench in the ground below the tank) While I think Halo is so popular because it's got almost as good replay value as golden eye, a freekout factor just below in Resident Evil, and the ideas are almost as creative as red faction, add great marketing and you've got one hell of a game with no real defining strong points.

While I do admit Halo is extremely overrated and the campaign has little replay value, the multiplayer has no real flaws. It's fun and engaging with several modes and a variety of weapons. You can't go wrong with a custom Slayer variant and 3 buddies to play with. Even though I don't have access to Live, I like Halo.

But I have to say that the campaign and the storyline are mediocre at best compared to other games of similar popularity.

At least Bungie had the decency to tell us they won't deliver, unlike some other developers >_> *coughDukeNukemForevercough*
