Check Serebii for proof.

I wonder if that'll mean any improvements for the thing down the line? At any rate, I'm astounded that the thing is playable, and it probably means Giratina's Origin Form will be as well.

It kinda makes sense. Ice Shaymin was wierd. Ice type Gigas makes more sense... it is obtainable in an icy region. Although there is already an Ice-type Regi...

Mentioning it, the Regis being obtainable in Platinum? And only with the movie Regigigas? WTF?

Damn it. I really wanted a Grass/Ice Type Shaymin ;_; Grass/Flying just makes it suck more. Well, we can look at it this way, it can now stop Celebi/Heracross/Infernape and what not. MAYBE IT'LL GET AIR SLASH!

I'd like it to be more like the Tropius of OU. That'd be... scary.

I wouldn't count on Air Slash too much. I can see it right now:

Gamefreak designer: And to celebrate, we're going to give it... SKY ATTACK!!! What, you thought we actually care about Shaymin? Besides, we're the guys who think Rock/Steel is the most godly defensive typing ever. Now get with the times and start using Mantgron already.

Oh, and according to Serebii, Shaymin's forms are going to be a Deoxys kind of deal: Land Form for D/P, Sky Form for Platinum. That explains a lot about game interaction - however, odds are D/P carts will be patched somehow to acknowledge the existence of the Sky Form, or something like that. In the same vein, it's likely Giratina will follow the same pattern.

I don't have to tell you Shaymin's movepool will still be borderline unusable. It'll take a lot more than Seed Flare and Air Slash to even make it a tenth as versatile as Celebi.

Actually my main team has been running Specs Shaymin for awhile now for some success, it's actually pretty handy. So I might not replace it with this new dealie until it's THAT much better.

I'm actually kind of sad about the Shaymin form.  Personally, PurpleKecleon's rendition seemed a lot better than this crap they're churning.  It looks like a reject Sonic idea...

Repto's intervention sounds a lot like the way I was thinking about it while I was at work. There's the very real possibility that other than Shaymin's Flying type and Giratina's new ability (whatever it is, rumored to be Levitate though), the change will be purely cosmetic and nothing else. No new stat spreads, no new moves, nothing.

If that's true, Shaymin will get next to nothing out of this, and Giratina will be the winner out of this thing, provided the new ability is better than Pressure. It's a little bit of a shame, though, that of all the Pokémon to get Pressure, they chose the one who actually has a practical use for it to get a new ability. But if it IS Levitate, Arceus can keep its Extremespeed PP for all I care, and the regular form will be obsolete.

What does Specs Shaymin do that Celebi can't? Does the SDef drop make that much a difference?

I've actually been a pretty big fan of Scarfed Celebi, using Leaf Storm and Psychic of course, and then using a whole mess of things for the other two, among them Reflect/Light Screen, Healing Wish, Leech Seed, HP, Shadow Ball, Charge Beam, Safeguard, and sometimes even U-Turn and Perish Song. Healing Wish was actually surprisingly useful on Celebi, with a Scarf.

While I'm still certain the stat spreads and traits won't change, I don't think it's far out to assume they'll pick up some new moves. They won't get another token attack, though- Shadow Force and Seed Flare will be their "big" moves.

Stat spreads may not change, but Giratina's just about certain to pick up a new ability. I can't imagine Corocoro putting ??? as Origin Giratina's ability and then have it turn out to be Pressure.

One is that it is Shaymin and not Celebi, as I use Celebi for way different roles like the main part of shoddy is now.

And Seed Flare is fun enough to play around with.
Rest, Seed Flare, Hp Fire, Psychic. He actually hits pretty hard with a decent chance of taking on Blissey if you get a drop.

It's more of a personal thing, but I like it.

My point was largely that Shaymin doesn't really do anything that Celebi can't, but fair enough.

One advantage that the Flying type would give Shaymin is a STAB to hit incoming Grass Pokemon that try and absorb Leech Seed.

If you think about the two Grass / Flying Pokemon, Jumpluff at least certainly uses the Subseed strategy effectively.

With 100 base Attack and Special Attack, hopefully Gamefreak will give Shaymin a decent Flying attack so that maybe it can gain a significant advantage over Celebi by providing a nice STAB against Grass Pokemon.

Substitute, Leech Seed, Seed Flare, Air Slash is certainly a set I can see gain some viability, as Air Slash would provide 30% Flinch while the opponent is slowly being Leech Seeded.

While I am disappointed that my Ice / Grass Shaymin (and the glorious Zapdos / Celebi / Suicune counter that typing + 600 BST would provide) is now an impossibility, I am excited that we might have a solid Grass / Flying Pokemon in OU.

Go Shaymin!

Yeah, I know. :-)

Anywhoo, with it's second Flying typing having that Ground immunity and Fighting resist is still pretty cool to have around.(Even though Celebi boasts those except for the straight up ground immunity, but hey it's refreshing to see Shaymin). I take back my opinion of not changing to this new form(e?). It still looks pretty cool.

Random thought of the day regarding Platinum: usually, climate is used as an excuse to have characters in skimpy outfits, not bury them under a million tons of clothing. Odd choice, because I bet there are a lot of people who'd like Dawn to wear nothing but a bikini, sandals and the condom hat - but then the E rating would be jeopardized.

Another odd thing is that I seriously doubt they'll change the overworld and battle sprites of the enemy trainers (and NPCs as well), so you'll control a character dressed like Amundsen challenging trainers wearing a T-shirt. (And shorts, which are delightfully comfy and easy to wear even at twenty under zero.) Not to mention, it's going to get real hot around Stark Mountain. Then again, who stopped Lucas and Dawn from wandering around route 217 wearing completely inappropriate clothes in D/P?

Well, after all the climate is supposed to be colder, not warmer. But I also thought about the other trainers and how they wouldn't be dressed differently. And then there's Candice in her toasty weather resistant figure skating costume.

The character designs still make me want to name the male character "Ocelot", something I wanted to do halfway through diamond. They also followed logic here, with the clothing in cold, which is absolutely amazing... except for "Dawn" (or female PC)... while I applaud them for giving her a coat, the skirt stays the same. Good job, Game Freak. My main question here is this: Okay, Sinnoh is now freezing. What about the other continents? Is Kanto warm, cold, hot? Serebii said that

Also, what the hell, sky form Shaymin? It goes from an assumed hedgehog to a dog/ Santa's magic reindeer. I suppose it would make sense if it were rudolph, because of it's newfound flying type. But in the event that it's not, which looks almost unlikey, that would be real confusing if it's not. Nothing special, just Shaymin getting taller, grew "antlers" and gained the flying type. Hooray awkward evolutions!

And at this time, I would like to officialy announce my doubt of a new Regigigas form. Since Shaymin gets sky form, that would presumably leave Regigigas with the ice form, which an ice type Regi already exists, and would then give Regigigas a couple more weaknesses, and a X4 to figthing. Ouch. More weaknesses, a name where you forget the number of "g"s in it, and he still can't get it going due to Slow Start. Poor thing.

Agreed. They probably won't change anything around NPC wise, which gives me funny memories of winter here in Minnesota ("40 below? Shorts? IM THERE!"). And those shorts better be increadibly comfy, or else they better have a form of 911 on speed dial. As for stark mountain, that would present a problem for the PC designs. But then again, I have this feeling Game Freak would say "Stark mountain froze over, the climate is so bad".

...Anyone else getting global warming vibes from this?

I think we all thought of global warming at one point when seeing this.

Anyway, something else that I doubt will change is the overworld design. From all the screenshots Serebii has there's nothing in the way of change - Floaroma for one looks the exact same, except for a sign over the entrance.

(Edit: I checked the Eterna shot a little closer, and am I seeing... snow? It would make sense to see a little snow there, since Eterna and Celestic are located on the highest latitude that isn't the path to Snowpoint. If that's the case, could we see more snow in route 211? That'd pretty much mean out with the Ponytas in that area... they should be replaced with Sneasels then [sorta like how they put Phanpy and Marill really early in Crystal and Emerald respectively]. Waiting until after the sixth gym to see a single Ice Pokémon is lame as hell.)

Also, I don't think Regigigas is getting anything either. The movie's coming out in a month, I think we'd know by now if there was something going on.
