So, the EC has commenced this Saturday and today, the Netherlands had to face Italy in a very exciting match. My national team's coach had been receiving quite some negative feedback for a while, but today he proved he's definitely capable of coaching the team extremely well. He brought us to a 3-0 victory against, as I said, Italy, the current world champions.

We were put in a pretty tough group stage to begin with, having to beat both Italy and France (and Romania, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem I think), but this has certainly helped us secure our place in the next round. Only two out of the four teams may continue, so we only need one more win to be sure of our spot in the next round!

For anyone familiar with the Dutch national soccer team, van Bronkhorst was absolutely amazing during this match, having saved us from a 1-1 (he kicked the ball out of the goal) and caused the 2-0 with this action, as his action set up a very solid counter attack. This resulted in Wesley Sneijder scoring a goal in the end.

The other two goals were made by van Nistelrooij and the same van Bronkhorst.

All in all, the match was full of excitement, the referee was amazing (he didn't pause the game for every minor physical contact that occured) and of course, us beating Italy with 3-0 was a big surprise - a very welcome one at that!

Well hopefully Romania is going to be a "piece of cake", and to be honest, France wasn't very impressive at all earlier today. Their match vs Romania, resulting in 0-0, was lacking a lot of action (but maybe that's because Henry didn't play, I don't know), so yeah, I think we have a good chance of making it to the next round.

France sucks balls. And if, in some way, Netherlands face Portugal, you can bet, Fantasty: Dutch people gonna have their asses handed to them. >_>

Psh, the Netherlands are more than ready to take on Portugal, judging by today's match.

Nah, I wouldn't know who'd emerge victorious in a duel between the two of them; all I hope is that the match won't be similar to their previous one on the WC (that match was simply rediculous).

It'll be an interesting game for sure.

I'd love to see it. The only thing I don't like in our team is Cristiano Ronaldo. Pfft, best player in this world. He didn't do anything against against Turkey (Portugal won 2-0). Also, we have the best group imo. As long as the Euro '04 doesn't repeat itself all over again... DAMN YOU GREEKS!!

Man I wish Argentina was in Europe ;_;

Not that I am Argentinian, I just love that team.

Unlike the overdramatic French, the flopping Italians and the flopping Portugese, Argentina is a soccer team that plays while representing the integrity of the game.

Kind of like the Netherlands...GO NETHERLANDS!!

So the Netherlands just beat France with 4-1, already assuring themselves of a spot in the quarter finals. With France and Italy only having 1 point at the moment, and Romania being second with 2 points, the Netherlands have an amazing 6 points, putting them on the first position in this group stage.

So I heard England didn't qualify which sucks since I was rooting for them. Now I'm rooting for Netherlands. Van Nistelrooy and Van Der Sar have always been favorites of mine. Football is pretty big around here even though our fail team is like 50th in the world.
