Analysis: Heracross
[DEFENSIVE COMBINATIONS]
Heracross, a Bug/Fighting Pokemon. It's unique typing provides it a nice set of assets; both offensive and defensive wise. It's unique typing provides it with the following resistances: .5x to Grass/Fighting/Bug/Dark. Heracross also has the following weaknesses, a 2x weak to Fire and Flying and one 4x to Psychic. His base stats are spread over pretty decently. Baring a tremendous Base 125 Atk with a decent 75 Def/95 SpDef and 80 HP stat, he can switch into both forms of the attacking spectrum somewhat well. Lest, we not forget about his 85 Base speed.
Heracross' main counter would be Gliscor and Weezing, both being able to resist Heracross' attacks with ease and recover the damage. So, with that in mind, possible teammates for Heracross would be Swampert being able to scare off Gliscor while resisting Weezing's Fire Blast/Flamethrower and being immune to Thunderbolt. The Restalk variation of Swampert works wonders alongside Heracross providing Swampert a way to recover off damage. Next, another possible teammate for Heracross could be a Wishpasser such as Jirachi or Togekiss. Both are extremely durable and Bulky being able to take hits while providing Heracross support through Thunderwave, which is extremely helpful due to Heracross' mediocre Base 85 speed.

[SET DESCRIPTION]
Jumping into the 4th generation, Heracross gains a new move in the form of Close Combat which becomes much more devastating thanks to Choice Band. Alongside with Megahorn, those 2 moves will be Heracross' main form of attacking. Megahorn nails any Psychic pokemon that my try to switch in while Close Combat handles the Rock/Steel types. Stone Edge hits the Flying types that resist Megahorn and Close Combat. Such a pokemon may be Zapdos or Gyarados. Heracross can also be used as a Status Absorber, taking sleep inducing moves. In doing so, Sleep Talk becomes viable and Heracross' ability Guts activates giving his Attack a 1.5x boost. This alongside Choice Band and STAB with Megahorn and Close Combat, Heracross suddenly becomes a force to be reckoned with. However, the shortest amount of time sleep will last for is 2 turns and when Heracross awakes he will be stuck on Sleep Talk; forcing a switch. If you do not wish to take this high risk/high reward chance, then Pursuit will be more suitable. Pursuit nails any weakened pokemon that may try to switch out for double the damage and is great for finishing off weakened pokemon. All the while, it also nails the ghosts/psychic types.

[OTHER OPTIONS]
Other options that Heracross can put over Pursuit can be Night Slash to hit ghosts such as Dusknoir or the Rotom formes on the sleight chance that they may stay in. However, Pursuit is the better choice as most people would switch out. You may also opt to run Earthquake instead of Sleep Talk/Pursuit if you wish, but again Close Combat would hit Steels much harder thanks to Stab.
