For what moves Pokémon get, just use Serebii and take out the egg moves. GameFAQs' documentation on MD2 is zilch, so all we really know is the movepool of each Poké and the effects of the moves that were already there in MD1. Can't wait until UPC gets a MD2 section, because THAT'll be where all the data lies.
I don't suggest getting a utility Poké, either. The name of the game's all about offense and endurance, so the best team is a bunch of attackers with a good offensive movepool and good stats. Blaziken's an excellent choice in that aspect. Flamethrower and Double Kick made it great in MD1.
Avoid burning, it sucks. All it does is take away 5 HP at every 20 turns - that's not even enough to beat natural HP regeneration. Because that's something else you probably don't know - Pokémon regenerate HP naturally over time, unless they're famished, in which case they lose 1 HP every turn until you feed them. But back to status inducing, just don't do it. Not even Toxic (loses 6 HP every 2 turns and stops HP regen), because you can kill enemies much faster with offensive moves. Of course, it's much more annoying when YOU are targeted by Toxic. But for burns? Not even. I brought along Magnemite every time I went to Mt. Blaze or Magma Cavern in MD1 even if it stupidly kept floating over magma (which equals instant burn). Burns are THAT bad.
