Does anyone play? FFTA2 could very well possibly be online...
Anyways, the best team is definetly this:
Human: Paladin/Blue Mage - Bonecrusher/Strikeback - Weapon Atk+
Human: Ninja/Thief - Reflex - Double Sword
Viera: Elementalist/Summoner - Return Fire/Reflex - Magic Pow+/Turbo MP
Moogle: Gunner/Mog Knight - Last Haste - Concentrate (Make sure he knows Ultima Charge)
Nu Mou: Alchemist/Black Mage - Reflex - Magic Pow+
Nu Mou: Sage/White Mage - Reflex - Turbo MP

Haha, nice. My Marche(named Alder) is a Ninja/Thief. I find that Alchemists, though, are most definetly the best class in the game, contrary to popular belief.
I wish I had my game, I want to see that beautiful file again.I had it a very long time ago. The game was fun, then I beat it, and tried to level up every single person in my clan evenly. That got old fast seeing as a someone new joins often.
Can't put my finger on it, but one of my favorite class had a lance. Something like Templer? Had a cool mask and stuff.

Yeah, that's either Dragoon or Templar. Both are good classes (Dragoon is probably the best physical fighter in the game).
I just remember that you, in either Tactics game, give anybody dual swords as a sub skill thing, give him the best swords, and own.
These games let you be somewhat creative.
I liked the Templer, Alchemist (Meteor guy right?), Paladin (Turban was sweet), Moogle gunner class, White mage, main character (forgot class), Black Mage for human (just because it looked like Vivi). Also Mog Knight and Summoner were in there some time.
Of course I mixed it up a bit, but the ones I liked the most are bolded. If I remember the rest of the class I'll update that list, those were my favorables at the top of my head.
I like Lances the most as a weapon in really any game. So Dragoon was probably there in some point.

Gunners were also pretty sweet. I loved their hats.
FFTA was and is one of my favorite games of all time. I beat all 300 missions and recruited all the secret characters, including Babus and Cid. ha, I still remember my team's names: Grandi (Human), Deiter (Bangaa or however you spell it), Kiana (Viera), and Ocon (Nu Mou). and of course Marche and Montblanc.
I'd have to say the best team members are:

use the Sniper ability Conceal to become invisible, sneak in close, then use Last Breath/Rockseal. lather, rinse, repeat.
Viera: Red Mage/Summoner
using Red Magic's Doublecast, you can do two summons in one turn.
and I agree with pretty much everything else you suggested.
