And now, on with the short fable!

Once upon a time, there lived an old woman and her cat in a small cottage in a small forest. The cat, naturally being a cat, got bored, and at suppertime left the cottage to a lake. At the lake, in the water, it saw a small sausage, which was roughly the size of a twig. The cat reached in the tip of its paw into the water, grabbed the sausage, ate it, and went home happily.
The next day, the cat went back to the lake, curious to see if there was another sausage. To its surprise, there was an even bigger one in the water! However, it was deeper into the lake. Nonetheless, the cat reached in more of its paw than the previous day into the water, clutched the sausage, and ate it.
On the third day, it went back, and it saw another sausage! It was even bigger than the day before! The cat repeated its routine, this time sticking in its entire paw into the water to retrieve it, and went home happy.
On the fourth day, there was a gigantic sausage in the water, bigger than anything the cat had seen! It was marvelled by this. It reached in to get it, but instead fell in! The cat struggled to pull itself out with the sausage, and when it did, it ate it and went home satisfied again.
The moral of this fable?
The bigger the sausage, the wetter the pussy.
