Yeah, we all know that Falkner did not originate from Olivine City and the city was obviously not attacked by pirates from the 20th century. Let's try not to play "What's wrong with this picture" from now on, mm'kay?
Chapter 6 is kind of a boring chapter. I suppose you could call it a filler.
Character analysis: Falkner
Although he's a one-time character as far as I know, I felt that people might want to know about Falkner's "high-class," "I'm better than you" attitude. Well, he is, kind of. Being a gym leader and all, he believes that he needs an a sense of power emanating from him, and so he acts stiff and formal in order to gain the respect of others. Although, in situations such as the one in this chapter, he sheds his noble attitude and becomes an impatient, worrisome guy. He attempts to keep his cool long enough so that he can contain the situation, but his impatience and carefulness still shows once in a while.
(I just BSed that right there, so I might have contradicted myself... But anyways, I drew most of my conclusions from this chapter, so IMO that should be somewhat right.)

Like, jah.
Ditto can only Transform into the opponent, so it's not a very optimal Pok?mon to use since a Pok?mon should know itself the best, and can counter itself... So, yeah. It's better to start out with a Pok?mon that can actually attack before the foe. You'll find out why Gold doesn't use Ditto so much when you read Chapter 7.
