On our design class, our teacher asked if we knew anything (product or TV show) that was badly designed. I was thinking of hair commercials when he suddenly rushes towards me and says.

"You like Pokemon do you?"

Nervously I said, "Y-yes Sir, I play the games and watch Pokemon"

Then he starts laughing, "Then how can you not know of that one Episode of Pokemon that was badly designed?"

So again I start thinking...But before I can say anything, he grabs his bag, takes out a DS lite and to my surprise, he starts playing Pokemon Diamond. Then he withdraws one Pokemon and shows it to me.

It was a Shiny Porygon.

"See here.." he says "I Have a Modest shiny Porygon, this Pokemon debuted on a badly designed episode of Pokemon which caused children to have epileptic seizures.."

The he goes on about how as designers, we must be careful and we must know the Human Factors in design, and how important it is that the design we make does not just follow rules of aesthetics, but also form and function.

After the class, he comes to me and says.

"If you need someone to challenge, I'll be waiting in the teachers lounge."

....It was a little bit freaky, for me.

On a side note. I once had this substitute teacher who sniffed felts. You know those scented ones. She got some on her nose. She looked insane.

This is win especially because the teacher says badly designed.

It shows the quality of education in America.
