Hi,

First time posting on the forums. Ok, so I'll cut to the chase:

I spent nearly 3 frustrating hours on getting some of the games to load and to save in the game. Certain roms like 'Castlevania: Portraits..." starts at the beginning and then after 10 secs of loading, it tries to load save files, but then it says "Sava Data corrupted" and then "Save failed. Please reinsert game cartridge..blah blah blah", you know what i mean. I've searched several threads and tried many different solutions, but they all don't seem to work. The emulation settings are set at FLASH 512KBs, etc, etc. The standard settings. BUT, for some reason I still cannot save IN GAME, which is wierd right? oh, btw, it was working earlier today and i was able to save in game and all, but i don't know what i did that made the emulator unable to save files. O_o has anyone had this problem? I know there are many similar situations with it, and I've already given up the option of searching threads that "might" have the same issue, but since i spent nearly 3 hours trying to figure it out, a quick answer would be GREATLY appreaciated ^^

What emulator are you using? What games have you tried? The Castlevania game you listed should work with EEPROM 64KB.

I'm using NO$GBA v2.6 and so far castlevania: portrait of ruin, is the only game that cannot get past the loading the save data part. I've tried several other games with the NDS cartridge backup: at FLASH 512K and it seems to be playable, but then I cannot save within the game. It's kind of annoying because I was able to save in the game before, now there seems to be just some sort of wierd error that doesn't allow the games to be saved. and i re-d/l the emulator several times, it didn't help...

Hmmmm, well I gave it several more tries. When using the No$GBA emulator, I can start certain games, but I cannot do ingame saves, it says the "save data" or "save slot" is corrupted and then it deletes it right away. As for games such as the 'castlevania: portrait of ruins', i can't even get past loading the sava data. i tried several cartridge backup media settings for the emulator and none of them allows me to save in game. I'm not sure what this problem is, but I've searched a lot of threads already and none seem to have this particular problem. The common ones I see are not being able to save, but then that is solved by simply switching the backup media setting for NDS roms. BUT this is not the case for me....Anyone have suggestions as to what may be the problem? or has anyone here faced this issue with their emulator?

each game has its own save type, if you try to save the game with the wrong save type selected, the rom will crash or will refuse to save.

castlevania uses EEPROM 64k, so set your backup media to that, then RESTART THE EMULATOR using the * key for the media switch to take effect, then start a fresh new game, and attempt to save., i know this works becasue i downloaded the rom myself, and saved without a problem.

when you save the game, make sure you save the emulators configuration settings so it stays at EEPROM 64K, otherwise the ingame save data will become corrupt due to the wrong backup media trying to load it.

OHHHHH, wth. I c, yeah you were right, it was because i didn't bother to wait for the emulator to save during the beginning. =_= so dumb, all i had to do was set it at EPROM 64k and wait, I guess my impatience is what made me think that setting was wrong... THX for ur help!

I'm thinking we should make a big copypasta thread with all these solutions/problems/fixes.

That hasn't been really update in a long, long time. I'm thinking of making a new, DS focused one.
