i was wondering, how long does it take from when a new DS game comes out in the stores to when it's dumped on the web? and what are the steps involved in between? i've always wondered if it's just a matter of pugging the game into your computer, ripping and packing, and then putting it on the web, or whether each new game has to be picked apart and made compatible with the emulation standards.... or is it the emulators that have to suit the games?

depends sometimes they can be dumped in a couple of days, weeks perhaps months, it just depends on who feels like dumping it, its not usually a long wait
if your lucky you get pre-release dumps
you can dump the roms from a ds with hacked firmware, some flash carts with the right software and a adapter for the pc

no DS emulator is perfect, most are developed by reverse engineering in some way, that inherently causes the emulator to not always work 100% also none are complete so its neither expected that they will work 100% either.

yeh you answered my question very well thankyou...... the reason i asked is because i'm hanging out for the release of dragon quest IV on the DS in a very big way... i cannot wait for that game to come out!!

dragon quest IV will be out september 16 in the US i think
but there is a Japanese rom if you would like it

hmmm, yesh, i saw that, but until i learn japanese...... fanslation, anyone??
hahaha, i kid, i kid.... i read that translating... what was it? sword of mana prequel? seiken dentetsu 2 or something?... took some ridiculous amount of time, and was only completed by a very committed team of hex-editors and giocophiles (mixing italian AND greek :o)....
