Taken from Gamespot:
"As usual, November has been a huge month for game releases. However, not even the flood of new AAA games could keep the long-awaited Super Mario Galaxy from having the single best launch of a Wii game to date. According to the publisher's own figures, the spacefaring adventure sold more than 500,000 copies in the US during its first week on shelves.
Besides touting the sales figures, Nintendo also pointed to a GameRankings.com aggregate review score of 98 for Super Mario Galaxy, with the claim that the score is the best of all time. (GameSpot's own review was also extremely positive.) The information is actually out of date: As of this writing, Galaxy's review average has dropped slightly, putting it a fraction of a percentage point behind The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Skeptical gamers who want to check that claim out for themselves can try out Super Mario Galaxy during Nintendo's Mall Experience, a traveling assortment of Wii and DS kiosks highlighting the latest games for both systems. For a list of participating malls, check out the official Web site. "
It seems like Super Mario Galaxy is turning out to be an amazing game! It's nice to see the Wii is keeping up. When companies compete, it's the consumers that win in the end.
Still, Halo 3 has more sales. The Xbox 360 has some real potential.
The PS2 is one of the best selling consoles of all time, if not the best. People are still buying it, even today. The PS3 is in good hands and could reach that same potential... or will it?
I thought this information deserved a fresh post. The other one was older, and this new information can easily start a new discussion.
Personally, from what I've played on the Wii (two all-nighters of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and a few rounds of Warioware/Wii sports at parties) it seems like a nice console. I'd prefer my PS2 over it any day, but Nintendo knows what it's doing. It just needs some excellent third-party games to give it an edge (that was one of the PS2s strengths).
So what is your opinion?
