Taken from Gamespot:

"This week, Nintendo's iconic mustachioed plumber deftly worked the pipes stateside, racking up high praise for his debut on the Wii with Super Mario Galaxy. However, Mario's space odyssey has been out in Japan since November 1, and Japanese gamers have been ushering his arrival with a plateful of yen. In the four days since launch, Super Mario Galaxy has sold 251,000 units, according to the latest figures from stat trackers Media Create."

Those are some pretty solid sales numbers. Seems like the Wii might be able to keep up in the console race. Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 had sold 1 million units before it was released. Who is going to come out on top? What about the PS3 with all of it's sequels to it's successful franchises?

What are your thoughts?

It's hard to say right now how much SMG is going to sell, especially since it's only been out for one week in one territory. I would say that it will more than likely sell more than Halo 3, since basically, it appeals to a much wider audience, and it has had quite a lot of hype (Note, to have hype for a game doesn't mean having giant billboards everywhere, crappy energy drinks, and more adverts than what Crazy Frog had).

Jeez, not another lame Mario game. Seriously, how stupid can people get buying that junk and having the ignorance to say that it may sell more than Halo 3? How many have there been already, don't they get sick of recycling the same crap over and over.

I agree with Grim Reaper's point, Nintendo have been recycling their games for each new console, instead of going into different avenues. And still, people are still buying it which I find even more confusing. Unless of course, Nintendo is tilting these figures.

Actually, SMG does use new game mechanics not shown in games before, such as the highly advanced planetoid physics.

Also, Halo 3 has considerably more "recycling" than any Mario game, from what I've read in reviews. From what I can gather, it's basically Halo 2.5.

Of course, I'm not going to argue over this, I've got better things to do in my free time, plus, it's just a point of view, nothing more, nothing less.

It's still the same damn crap from years back with retarded Mario. Halo is a story game that started and ended. You can't expect the developers to make each Halo game different, did retards out there expect Halo 3 to be a racing or RPG game in order to see something "new", did they want the whole theme to change for each one? Sick assholes likes yourself are just pathetic with your crazy comments. Your like fools screaming on and on how some crappy car is somehow even comparable to another car like a Dodge Viper or a Saleen S7. Don't you realise how stupid you are? Mario is one of the most pointless and idiotic games ever that just can't come to an end. It may appeal to the small kids or retarded older people but it truly is a load of garbage that Nintendo just can't leave and move on. Mario is like a plague that infects people with it's foolishness and the ones infected fall for the same crap each and every time one of those retarded Mario games is released. It's pretty sad and I pity those morons.

LOL! You talk there as if you actually have a life to spend free time! You aren't going to argue over this? A person who has his head stuck up Mario's ass is bound to come back to the defense of this. I'm pretty sure you'll ditch your so called "free time" of suicide thoughts, being lonely and Internet preying to reply so don't even attempt to act smart with your foolish statements. Your such a joke, "point of view" my ass, it won't do anything to work in your defense. Someone can have a so called "point of view" or opinion about planes not flying, boats not sailing, cars not driving etc... how the hell does that shift the truth? You come here looking for an argument with your smartass comment "I would say that it will more than likely sell more than Halo 3, since basically, it appeals to a much wider audience, and it has had quite a lot of hype (Note, to have hype for a game doesn't mean having giant billboards everywhere, crappy energy drinks, and more adverts than what Crazy Frog had)." and now when someone challenges your f*cktarded posts you all of a sudden jump to "Of course, I'm not going to argue over this, I've got better things to do in my free time, plus, it's just a point of view, nothing more, nothing less." how extremely dumb can you get? You've once again made yourself out for a fool by baiting this, you ass.

Well it's the same pathetic thing with Metroid and SSBB as well. Those two games are also recycled just like Mario over and over. The same things I said also apply to those games as well. It's just sad that people by them, similar to how countries buy MIG-29's over F-15's, pitiful.

Metroid is, unfortunately, overused. I hate to say it, but it jumped the shark a long time ago.

SSBB is also overused, but I am very intrigued with how this will work with the controllers.

SMG I think is just freaking rediculous. I didn't enjoy SM64...I mean, sure it was the first Nintendo game 3D....Terrific! Its not anywhere close to exciting anymore. Same deal with SM64 DS...

I dunno, but I don't think it's worth the 50$

Jumping Flash!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_Flash!

...was probably one of the first of it's kind. Super Mario 64 ended up being much better, but the good old Playstation had the concept down before Nintendo did.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. (read into it)

I've always been a fan of RPGs and games that allow me to compete with others (Halo, Tekken, SSBM, etc.) so I most likely will not play Super Mario Galaxy, unfortunately. It may very well be a good game, however.

Many Final Fantasy games share common ideas, with some people even thinking the idea has been re-done far too many times.... people still love it, and I love it. The creators have been straying from the usual formula lately anyways (Yes, I have copies of the games from 1 to 12, including Tactics - actual copies!)

So if you have a successful franchise, why not milk everything you can from it? When the people complain, change it just enough so you can get that little extra from it. Halo 3 broke records and we all know damn well that there will be a Halo 4. You don't skip out on that kind of opportunity as a company. The same thing happens with Mario and his friends... from a business perspective, you do what you need to for cash and change it when people complain.

Well, since I live in such an awesome country, my local game store decided to break the official release date, and they sold me a copy today. So far, it's been easily the most fun I've had with a game for a long time. The level design... well, how do I put it? It's nothing like you've seen before, it's so mind-boggling and imaginative, plus, the planetoid physics make's the game even more imaginative :P

After owning Super Mario Galaxy for a good few months now, I can say it definatly deserves the GOTY awards it earned. It's simply a fantastic experience which I feel hasn't been achieved in a videogame since the SNES/Megadrive days. The gameplay is simply brilliant and unique. People thought that the new gravity physics were nothing more than a mear gimic. How wrong they were. They introduce various new gameplay elements not seen in videogames before, and it also helps introduce some of the most original level designs ever concieved. The soundtrack, now there's something special, since it's around 75% orchestral, it sounds simply brilliant. What was before a simple, typical Mario soundtrack (as heard in the E3 2006 demos) has been completly transformed into a Hollywood-quality soundtrack. The few songs that weren't orchestral-ized were remixed, and still sound fantastic (they would have probably sounded weird if they had been orchestral-ized).

A full review will be coming soon, and maybe even my first video review :P

Nothing is wrong with being against something that happens to be pure crap. Whether people see it or not, I don't care, but I'll speak my opinion on it either way. Also changing my rep really doesn't make a difference neither fool, I can do it to you as well, anyone can do it in fact, it no longer has any solid meaning. If you choose to be the one to stand in the defense of a rubbish game and it's system, so be it. Keep in mind that I couldn't care less about it so long as you don't do so in direct offence towards me.

I know what you mean, devon. All over internet stupid people argue which console is better. Can't they just take one, play it and enjoy it? But no, I have  this console and I will tell all my forum buddies it's the best and that other systems sucks! Then I will make a song how other people suck and post it on jubito. Then I'll go some more on forums and tell some more how other consoles suck except ofcourse mine which rules.

Listening to how you put it, some might think this sounds very intelligent and true, but if we make some comparisons with solid logic, the real truth will be revealed. People argue over which is better because only one can actually be the best. Simple comparison to confirm this, lets take the F-15 and MiG-29 for instance. Both are fighter jets of the same generation, however despite one getting more sales than the other, it doesn't make that one better. In fact even though the F-15 is highly superior, many will still argue that the MiG-29 is just as good if not better. It's the same case with the consoles, people deny and believe what they want to believe even though they know it's wrong. Hence the reason I believe Nintendo and it's fans are complete fools. Now before you mix this up, I don't mind if they like it, but once they start claiming it's better in any way against a superior console, that's where it must be put to an end. The same goes for my fighter jet comparison as well. I've given this example on the forum many times in even better detail for it to sink into the heads of even the most foolish retards. I'm not going any further this time, I believe this should cover it so long as those of you understand the point and why it is so.

Why should I change it if it works? I can do it with cars, tanks, warships etc...It doesn't make a difference, it'll make the same point anyway. I just prefer to use fighter jets, how about you change your analogy of being a foolish noob and miserably failing to make a point without screwing yourself.
