Not a virus, So don't worry.

This is normal of certain roms such as the pokemon ones,
In most cases a simple patch or altering of Visualboys settings will correct the white screen.
Tell me more details, such as the rom title you are trying to play and i'm sure we can help you out

First
For Pokemon Fire Red version 1.1,
Problem - I get a white screen/I can't save.
Use Visual boy advance 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 for the white screen.
To save, you need to set the save game to Options --> Emulator --> Save Type --> Automatic --> Flash 128k

Try this for fire red, It Should correct your problem,
If not then apply this patch
you will need to download IPSwin to apply the patch

Next
Pokemon - Ruby Version
Problem - I get a white screen/I can't save
Download 2006 - Pokemon Ruby Version 1.2 (E), and use VBA 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 for the white screen.
Applying the ips patch will also clear up the white screen.
To save, you need to set the save game to Options --> Emulator --> Save Type --> Automatic --> Flash 128k.

Next
Pokemon  Sapphire Version
Same as above use emulators 1.7.1 or 1.7.2
Download the patch and apply it

NOTE: I am going off line shortly for the night,
Some files WILL NOT be available for download until I log back on tomorrow morning

I am having the exact same problem with the white screen when I'm trying to play Pokemon Ruby. I tried everything chicklet suggested, but its still not working. This is the first time I've ever used any kind of emulator, so it's all a little confusing... I read something somewhere about needing a BIOS for the GBA emulators... would that be it or should that have come with the downloaded emulator? Bah, I have no clue really, if someone could help me out, that'd be great :)

[/quote] You do not need the Bios for pokemon roms!
A properly applied patch to the correct rom will correct the white screen problem.
First off what rom, "# included" did you apply the patch too?
2nd Did you apply the patch and if so Did you do it correctly to the correct rom?

Maybe i'm just gonna have to look into appling patches to pokemon roms myself and then posting them with the emulators with the correct settings as it seems so many people fail to do one or several things correctly.

Patched with Emulator included and settings set,
Hopefully this will help a few people out.
I will patch and upload the others later when I find time
