How exactly does the saving work? Whenever I save a screenshot, it saves, but when I try to load it, the rom-image crashes...  :(

Screenshot? You should be using the saving function ingame, as in save through the game you are using. Snapshots won't work (neither will screenshots).

If you encounter an error while saving through the game you need to change the "NDS Backup Catrdige Media" setting to something else and try again.
