I apologize for posting another Diamond topic, but I did use the search function and unable to find the answer for the question I have. I found someone with a similar problem who had posted in an earlier topic, but their question was never answered. Anyway...

I downloaded No$gba yesterday, and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. I read the general notes and edited the settings for the optimized ones. I got the game to work and played it all day yesterday. Before I closed the game, I saved it in game.

When I tried to open the game today, nothing happened. The game didn't even start...it just comes up with a black screen and when I click on the bar at the top, it goes to full screen and says (Not Responding).

Well, I assumed that I needed to patch the thing, so I downloaded the patch and the patch program and patched the game. I also downloaded the NDS2xGL2 to make the screen bigger. Then I read that it didn't work in Vista, so I deleted it. I also read that people who were having problems loading the save game, at least got to the option to load the game. I can't even get there. The screen just comes up black and nothing comes on it.

Can someone please tell me what's wrong?

(( Also, I'm sorry I posted in the wrong board. I couldn't figure out how to delete the post ))

Thanks for making a clean, well-typed post. I move the post to Emulation Support, instead of Emulation Discussion.

Like I tell everyone, DS emulation is still new and very buggy. Universe_JDJ usually has an answer of some kind, but know that a perfect fix isn't always available.

You can either wait for someone else to reply, or you can play with the settings in the emulator itself until you find a configuration that works for you.

Thanks very much, not only for the reply, but for moving the post for me.

I think I will wait for another reply. In the meantime, I will reformat my computer so I can download No$gba anew and see if that helps at all.

Wait, reformatting?

Are you installing XP in place of Vista or something? As far as I know, a full-out reformat won't help it run much better. You're potentially losing all of your files with the reformat...

Do NOT reformat unless there is a serious problem with your system. It will not help anything, especially when it comes to DS emulation. As I don't have my main PC with me at the moment, I'm unable to test any games to see how they work.

If the game doesn't work on the latest version, just use an older version until the problem is fixed.

As for making the screen better, try changing your resolution to something smaller (800x600).

I only reformatted to clear everything off of the hard drive. It's my way of starting with a proverbial clean slate.

I actually got the game to work using No$gba version 2.4a. I patched it and it saved fine. I am now in the process of learning how to use pokesav with it.

But I do have another question. I played with No$gba version 2.5 and found that it ran much faster and smoother than version 2.4, but I couldn't load a saved game. Is there a save patch for version 2.5?

I've found an apparent fix on another forum. Could you test out please?

[quote]
1- Load/save the game with 512 kb flash ram (this is true because the save type of the rom).

2- Use the fastest frame skipping option (if your pc is slow or real-time if your pc is too much powerful) (this is necessary to pass the load screen as fast as possible when clicking the A button (nds), now this is a bug, somehow Kingcom mentioned something that the emulator is not emulating so he maked a patch, i just make it worked without it, even thought the patch only works in 2.4a).

3- Now the MOST IMPORTANTED PART when you are in the main menu window where appear "push start" and press as FAST as you can and as repeatedly as you can until the game load!!! (TESTED in my pc it ALWAYS WORKED)

NOTE 1: I just tested it only with the rom unpatched in no$gba 2.4f can be either encrypted or unencrypted it doesn't matter. If anyone already know about this i just feel sorry and fell free to delete it.

NOTE 2: for people that readed before 20:07 of 25 of sept.: i just mistaken is not in the load game screen BUT IN THE MAIN MENU WHERE appear "push start".You must click the button A of nds very fast repeatedly to bypass the load screen so it will go directly to the game.

Note 3: The problem still persist in no$gba 2.5!

It didn't work, and I know it's because I did something wrong.

It's hard for me to understand those instructions, simply because I'm not at all techinical savvy with the options and settings.

I re-downlowded version 2.5 ( Though it isn't going nearly as smoothly as it did this morning for some reason ). I downloaded the requiered files and I edited the settings to those in your D and P guide. I started a new game, saved it. Then I attempted to load it, and when the main screen came up, I proceeded to press start (enter), and the A button (spacebar), as quickly as I could. Nothing happened.

Let me know what I need different. Those instructions are hard for me to follow because of the grammar issues.

I'll try and translate :P

1- Make sure the save type is Flash 512KB.
2- Use the fastest frame skipping option.
3- When you are in the main menu window where "Push Start" appears press "A" (Whatever you've selected as that key) as fast as you can and continuously until the game loads.

Thanks XD

What is the frame skipping option, exactly. Is that the first option on the list of emulator options, the "emulater speed" option? Do you know which is the fastest, perchance?

Thanks very much for helping me.

Unlimited mHz, 100% should be the fastest option and yes that's the right option.

Ha ha ha, like jiggling the NES carts up and down, blowing into them or turning the power on and off really quickly?

Heh, sorry, the line just struck me as funny. Maybe I'm old fashioned.
