ok i cant save ingame with fire red and i couldnt care less but now i really need to save in game becuz without it i can't get pass the elite fours, and yes i tried the 124K and i dunt know how to patch and even if i do patch ppl say that i have to start from scratch again does anyone know how to fix this problem without losing my game save thx.

Changing it to the correct save type should allow you to save. If not, you'll have to apply the patch and restart.

what do u mean the correct type thats what i did options, save types, automatic and 124 K but when i try to save ingame it says save error and please exchange the backup memory.

To save, you need to set the save game to Options --> Emulator --> Save Type --> Automatic --> Flash 128k. Deleting your vba.ini and re-setting the controls works for some, but not all people.

If that don't work, you got no choice but to apply the patch and restart from scratch,
there is no other way that i'm aware of.

You may want to backup your .ini file before you delete it,
without it your save may be screwed.

ok i know of those but i want a way that doesnt require me to delete my game save becuz i worked so hard?

There is no other way.

if you want to be able to save correctly, ya gotta apply the patch and start over.

The only other alternative is to get a saved game from someone who had the patch applied. That may work for you.

But your save is worthless once you patch
