Things I have tried:
Project64
Nemu
1964.

They're all crap to me. None of htem run any games avaragely. Will plugins help? What can I do to make them run better?

1. crissake, get a smaller sig, its way to damn big
2. get a better computer, i dont know what you're doing wrong, but they work fine for me.

Downsizing your sig sounds like a good idea, Plz do so, or remove it.
less help will come your way if people have to fight with a pg load time due to an oversized graphic file.

Plugins are needed in order to play N64 roms

1964 and Pj64 ran well on my old machine 1.8 ghz with 256 mb ram. The default plugins are more than enough for most games.
