(**My question is further below, so you can read this if you wish, but it's not necessary. It may help you understand my problem somewhat, for my question look for the next two astike marks.)

After downloading several versions of the same game as well as various English patches...all of which did not work in manner that would be deemed satisfactory by any rom hacker...

...after continuously fiddling with the Zsnes with nothing to show for it except a glitched up game, I've decided to go for the Snes9x.

Usually when it comes to compatibility Zsnes is the one to go with, but in this case the only one for the job is Snez9x, after some trouble getting an English patch to work on my rom in question (manually...dear god..what was I doing wrong?!?!!), I defaulted to using the a auto patcher that was graciously submitted to his board.

To my surprise the auto patcher worked, and I can now enjoy Star Ocean  on my snes9x in [glow=red,2,300]english[/glow] and without any glitches or bugs! (of coarse it will be without bugs...because I'm using the snes9x rather then the Zsnes)

with the save states and and the ability to have the game on full screen it's almost like the Zsnes...except for one thing...

Turbo!!!

yes, apparently the only way to use turbo is to press the tab button, unlike the Zsnes, in which case you can map it to whatever game pad your using.

please realize I'm at the end of my rope and don't know what else to do ???. I've worked so hard...It's ALMOST PERFECT!

ALMOST!

Of coarse I don't need turbo to play the game, it's just...it's like working on a giant jigsaw puzzle...only to find you're missing this one little piece at the end...

Here is my question.

(** here is what you need to read)

Is there any way to map the tab button to a gamepad?

In a manner of speaking this isn't so much an "emulation support" topic so much as it's a trouble shooting topic for a game pad. Sorry if it's in the wrong place.

First off, you dont neccessarily need to install it through your game disk, XP ususally detects it and can verify what type of pad it is, otherwise it prompts you that it does not recognize it. To map it you just use the software that was included, or you can goto Control Panel>GamePad

There you should be able to map several buttons or atleast check that it is working properly.
