PlayStation 3 delayed in Europe
Sony announces next-gen console put back to March 2007 in Europe; blue laser diode issues cited for delay.

When Sony's PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles launched worldwide, there was up to nine months between the Japanese and European releases. So European gamers rejoiced when, at this year's E3, it was announced that the PlayStation 3 launch would take place worldwide over a matter of weeks in November.

However, this morning Sony has issued a statement saying that the PlayStation 3 release date has been put back to March 2007 in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australasia. Sony cited 'the delay in the mass production schedule of the blue laser diode within the Sony Group' as the reason for the postponement.

The Japanese and North American release dates are unaffected by the delay, with scheduled 2006 launches on November 11 and November 17 respectively. Sony's global shipment forecast of 6 million units for the fiscal year of 2007 also remains unaffected.

The European delay means that the PlayStation 3 launch will take place well over six years since that of its predecessor, which went on sale on November 24, 2000. Sony is making no additional comment on the PlayStation 3 delay at this point in time.

All this does is makes me want to laugh more, Sony are really embarrising themselfs, first E3 06, then Sony said that only people who preordered their PS3s can get 'em, now this. What next?

Well, according to the BBC, over 70% of people who took part on an online poll have said that they won't be getting a PS3 now because of these delays.... also, for you Americans and Japanese people out there, if you want a PS3, you better preorder one, because Sony will be only shipping 400.000 PS3s to America and 100.000 to Japan, and will only be selling them to people who preordered early.

[/quote]I didn't need a video to convince me. I was convinced ever since Nintendo announced what was known as the Revolution in a speech in Japan back in 2003, which back then they didn't even have anything planned for it.

So much for a global launch!
I'm not buying the damn thing anyway.

Chances are they'll push back the other dates a bit, but they'll want to hold on to the NA and Japan release date if they want to compete with the xbox and the wii.

[/quote]I may appear as a Nintendo Fanboy, but I do also support Microsoft with the XBOX 360, and I hope that some day, I might be able to afford one  :-X And I did used to own a PSX, its just around the days of the PS2 when I lost faith in Sony.

I only support nintendo because i grew with it, and all the game titles it has to offer, and it would be a waste of money to have a PS3 or 360 if i can't play Zelda!!! now i'm sure that game titles are the only thing that matters for me.

[/quote]Yeah, I know what you mean, but there are some worthwhile games for the XBOX 360, like Dead Rising, for example, or Saint's Row.

I still prefer Nintendo though, and I doubt that I'll be getting an XBOX 360 soon.

if i had the money, i'd try with a 360
