More proof that Scientologists don't want their truth to be known:

"A man who is making a documentary about the Church of Scientology in Clearwater says he's being targeted.

Shawn Lonsdale of Clearwater got into a fight with someone claiming to be a Scientologist while he was filming on a street corner across from the church on July 8. After looking at Lonsdale's videotape, police arrested the Scientologist, Michael Fitzgerald, on battery charges.

Now, posters with a mugshot of Lonsdale are popping up in store windows near the church warning people that he's dangerous and has been arrested for sex crimes.

The church says it didn't hand out the fliers, that they came from an organization called the Cleveland Street Safety League.

Lonsdale admits he did get into trouble years ago, but says the charges were misdemeanors and that the Scientologists are just trying to scare him away from completing his documentary."

We've all read the stories about the evil plots and tactics the Church of Scientology uses, and now another to add to the list.  Who knows what they're up to now and what they don't want known...

Wikipedia is descidedly biased on the matter. So am I though.

It's a church, founded by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer.

They essentially believe that some alien race imprisoned another alien race in a volcano, wehre they died, and that they were reincarnated into us or something. It's rather complicated. There's a book called 'dienetics' that is essentially their bible. Read it for more info.

The basics: Xenu is the bad guy; you must pay money to enter the religion; you are not allowed to seek pharmacological treatment for what ails you as it is not part of their religion (this includes medications for depression, ADHD, etc.); phychology and psychiatry are considered wrong by them, described as a 'crackpot' science; mothers cannot cry or make any noise while giving birth, they believe this scares the child and scars it as well... no idea where that fits in; and that Hubbard created the religion on a bet with some friends.
