Blu-Ray will definately win as far as game formating is concerned. With the new consoles coming, space is really pushed and Blu-Ray can currently offer up to 50+ gb. That is where the Xbox 360 really fails. However, it is a toss-up as for as movie format goes. If Sony is successful with their very strong push on Blu-Ray, it may win out in both. DVDs will still be around for a few more years (thanks to the Xbox 360's non-HD-DVDness) because people can't afford HD-DVD players nor Blu-Ray players yet. Just like VHS is recently dying off, movies will be released in multiple format in both DVD and HD/Blu-Ray for many years.

HD-DVD. without a doubt, because Blu-Ray discs are extremly expensive to manufacture (for example, because of the disc format, PS3 games will cost on average 70/80$), and unlike the upgrade from CDs to DVDs, factorys would need to replace the majority of the machines which makes the Blu-ray discs, while HD-DVDs are a lot cheaper to manufacture, and factorys won't need to be completly upgraded to be able to manufacture them.

HD-DVD all the way for this gen at least.
Your not going to need all that space. I mean if Oblivion 4 for the 360 in HD fit on one disc then your not going to need blu-ray. "But the PS3 graphics are better" But its not that much better. What was it a few hundred i? Your not going to need all that space for that much extra graphic power. But then agian once dvds start burning on Blu-ray then you may actually save some money because you wouldn't have to buy a Blu-Ray player.

They're both formats being pushed by two stupid comapnies for their own agenda.
Sony's minidisc and memory stick didn't do so well, and yet they keep pushing them. As much as I hate Sony, I have microsoft more so if I had to make a choice (even though I'll be resisting both) it'd be blu-ray.
