I got a problem with this. No i dont drive a car nor do i use a mobile phone in a car. But what annoys me is that police officers are allowed to use those walkie talkie things while they are driving. I know i see some officers who are parked to use them while fining someone or something, but what about when they are driving? Its not fair on us. Walkie talkie's are the exact same form as a communication device as a mobile phone. So it must be a distraction when they are driving. Even if it is hands free or not, it is still hazardous. I have heard police officers admit on tv that hands free isnt entirely safe to do, yet they still use them. There may be two people in the car at once too ( most of the time ), but what about when its just one police officer in the car? Im not against these communication devices nor would i say they are a bad thing, but surely there is a safer alternative that someone could think of. What do you think? Is it fair that we are not allowed to use mobile phones in cars, but police officers are allowed to use communication devices?

Police need to use walkie talkies to know where to go in a hurry. If they were in a high speed chase and they needed to request back up it would be very inconvenient for them to pull over to do so.

Also the police are (supposedly) skilled at driving and what not so its safer for them than some random Joe.

Its just a matter of who needs it more. If your in an emergency, like you were being chased and shot at then I think they can make a exception. But you shouldn't just casually talk on the phone, because I think the person on the other end can wait a few minutes.

Plus the police talk in short messages, not long conversations. Conversations create huge blind spots, and you also have to balance the phone. Police just pick up their phone say a phrase, and wait for the next message, they don't do any in-depth thinking for the conversations.

lol they're police officers. they're trained to use these things and have experience. it's like telling a teacher it's wrong for them to give out detentions when you can't give one back, they have authority.
