Sorry I've been bugging about this, but I just really need to know before i go out and buy one.

Has anyone tried playing GBA games using the Supercard?  I've heard that it's slow and whatnot.  Also, can BOTH the firmware of the SuperPass2 and SuperCard be re-written/updated?

So right now I'm debating whether I should get an M3 or a SuperCard..
M3:  Fully functional GBA rom support (zero slowdown), must use external applictions for other roms
SuperCard:  Built-in emulators for NES/GB, GBA slowdowns(?)...

They've both got their pros and cons, but I'm still indecisive.

What would all of you recommend me buying?

input..input please!!

There were many slowdowns with GBA games with the supercard in the past, but those have been reduced.

The only game I can think of that is completely incompatible with the supercard is Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising (any version). Everythign else seems to work ok.

If you continue to encounter slowdowns in a game you can easily disable the 'real time save' function in the rom, and that will eliminate any slowdown (removing real time save will not effect acctual save, which must be saved using the Start+L+R+A function, for GBA games that is).

Check out scdev.org (the unofficial supercard website) or supercard.cn/eng/index.htm (the official supercard website) for more info if you like.

And yes, both the supercard and the superpass2 can be upgraded, although I think there's only been one upgrade on the superpass2, showing just how simple the technology is.

Also, both supercard products have been found to work with every DS, including the latest Lite version.

There are little to no DS incompatibility issues with the supercard and superpass2.

Hope that helps.

Awesome, thanks thaddius!  You were a great help!

I think I'm gonna get a combination of the Supercard (SD) + the Passkey 2.

Gonna get the Passkey 2 'cause I hear the Superpass 2 has problems fitting in the DS slot.  (Does the Superpass 2 need to be game-designated like the Passkey2?)

But this leads to another question..sorry
Can the Passkey 2 be programed with the SuperCard?  Since the Passkey2 was really made for the M3, I was wondering if the Passkey 2 could be game-designated using the M3 software, while using the Supercard hardware.
Yeah, I'm not making much sense..but I'll try to break it down.

Passkey2 + M3 programer + Supercard = work?

Thanks again!

the passme devices just redirect the DS to the GBA slot so therefore I don't think it'll matter which combination you use.

I personally use a passme from naturium42's site. Check out my tutorial on how to play ds roms on a ds in the tutorial section for more into on that.

But yeah, it shouldn't matter which passme-like device is used.

I personally would read a few reviews first.
I only use a super card cause I owned one before the DS thing was posible (I bought it because of the possibility that it could be used for ds, but that wasn't possible at the time). I know nothing of the functionality of the m3, it may even be a better product. Just look into it before you buy.
