Talk of voip functionality = rumour, I think anyway.
I can't imagine Nintendo leaving other people who shelled out the money for an original DS behind.
But with this new DS there might (big might) be a new firmware that connects pictochat to the internet.
That's something I hope for anyhow.

Or a lighter more compact console?
I didn't think a redesign was needed, but you'll remember that Nintendo kinda rushed the DS to get it out before the PSP.

From the look of it the hinges seem to be stronger.
If you've ever looked on ebay for a broken ds the two most common ailments are broken screen (can't be avioded sometimes) and broken hinges. So that'll at least prevent some of the earlier problems.
