The reason Nintendo is makign their own games is because the 3rd party developers basically left Nintendo and went to Sony and Microsoft.

Really?
That's odd. I would've thought that Microsoft bought Rare out from under Nintendo, not that Rare abandoned them. And that Konami, Capcom, SquareEnix, Namco, Sega, Ubisoft, EA, and many others still make games for Nintendo consoles. Metal Gear (GC has MGS1 remake exclusively), Final Fantasy (CC in GCs case), Resident Evil (GC still is the only system to have RE0 and the RE remake, unless you count N64 and DS), Megaman, Prince of Persia trilogy, Call of Duty, James Bond games, Sonic games.... all seem to be on every system. In fact, nearly every game that companies like Ubisoft, Sega, Capcom, and EA release for Xbox and PS2, also comes out for GC.
On top of that Nintendo does make some great games on their own (Zeldas, Metroids, Mario RGPs, Mario Karts, etc.).
The only popular games that I can think of that are made by a 3rd party company that both PS2 and Xbox have and that GC doesn't would have to be the GTA series.
I'm actually going to have to disagree with qnzskater on this. Nintendo still manages to get 3rd party developpers in on their console.
Especially since Hudson Soft merged with Nintendo way back when, HAL is still a Nintendo owned company, Capcom, SNK and SEGA are talking exclusive deals with Nintendo and Konami is taking a keen interest in the new revolution.
No no, qnzskater, I don't think anyone has abandoned Nintendo at all.
