I accidentally voted for PSP.
I was going for PS2.
Anyway.
As lazydude said you cant compare them.
But if someone gave me money to buy either I would buy a new PS2 (I just broke my old one).
@deep-dive: You can download any movie and convert it to mpeg for free so why bother paying.
The only reason I would get a PSP is for free games.
Downgrade to 1.5 and your set.
Anyways PSP are way overpriced.

If you buy the Giga Pack you save 50 bucks on the 1 gig memory stick. So thats extremely worth it.

Some sites let you download movies and put them on your PSP to watch. So your not limited if you have the resources.

A screen protector is 5 dollars. Go out and buy one cheapskate.

PS2 had absolutely nothing in its launch year. Give the PSP time to create a good library. Plus the isn't as fragile as people say it is. Haven't you seen that video where the people break the PSP. It takes a few hits to break it. Deliberate hits. Not accidental.

And do you really like sitting in the bus bored of your skull sitting with you friends in an akward silence?

One gigabyte isn't enough. I'd rather have my 20GB mp3 player that way there is some variety.

Downloading movies onto a memorystick is still limited by what you've bought for a mem stick. And not only that but no videos I've ever made use the aspect ratio properly. Not all video formats are supported either.

I DO have a screen protector thank you very much, but I shouldn't have to buy anything to protect the screen in the first place.

I also find it rather rude if I'm on the bus with friends and one of them starts listening to mp3s or watching a movie. My point was that people go to see a movie in a theatre where it's dark so they can see the screen and where it's supposed to be quiet, or rent the movie and watch it at home in the dark with surround sound speakers. Taking a film to the bus with earphones makes no sense to me. And I don't like watching movies by myself, but I'd have to if I was on a bus with someone cause you'd need a headphone splitter and hold the dang thing up for 2 hours.

With the 1 gig I'm able to fit over 250 songs. I dont think you need anymore variety than that.

as for movies. If you goto sites like pspcrazy people rip their dvds and convert them into the right file and host them so you can download them. A lot of those movies are under 256 mb. so thats like 30 bucks.

If its two of you share the headhpones each of you gets one. And if its a lot of you just put it in your lap or something. Lol you don't need the whole movie experience when your just casually just watching something.

The fact remains that I shelled out $300 for the thing and it has yet to impress me.

The PS2, while it still has flaws, can play many more games, on top of a well supported movie medium and won't break cause it doesn't move from your tv stand.

You can play more games because it has been out longer and it has time to get games. PSP hasn't even been out for a year.
The PS2 can only ply DVDs so if you download a movie your gonna have to play good money for a DVD-R if you wanted to watch it on your PS2.
And as for it breaking. Yes it can break but people think its like glass. Its not. My friend is very accident prone with his PSP but sometimes he's just stupid. Like he literaly throws it into his bookbag. And he drops it all the time. But it still works. Its a little stratched up but it still works.

You were excited about downloadable movies for psp, but ps2 can play the same formats on a burned dvd, and I have to say that dvd space is a heck of a lot cheaper than a memory stick.

A 1GB memory stick for psp is $129.99 Canadian, at futureshop.ca, while 100 DVDs (305.6 GB) is $64.99. A much better deal I'd say.

but you can reuse the mem stick and you can use it for pictures, game saves, music, and ISO's. And if you had got the GigaPack you get the 1 gig mem stick for half off. so thats 50 USD. Just as much as the DVDs.

If i had to choose which one i liked, it would be the PS2. You can listen to music, not that i do much of it, play games and all of the other stuff that we know of. The PS2 has a wider variety of entertainment and great video games. Im sure the PSP will get its fair share too.

DVD RWs are rewritable and they cost less than $10 for one.
That's 4.7GB for $10. Not bad.
And there are also programs for PS2 to show pics, divx films, mp3s (oogs and wmas as well, something psp doesn't have) and another thing is that there are much better controls (the psps analog stick is not so good).

Also the system costs $200 new, while the PSP is $300 new, plus $50 for the giga pack.

Essentially, 1GB doesn't cut it. I've never been impressed with either system though.

I'll stop commenting on this cause it's completely useless.
