The quest to find the longest game (game that took longest to clock/finish)

I'm taking in all the circumstances; age, how much you played the game etc

My entry would be Super Mario 64. I was only 6 when i started and it was the first game i got on nintendo 64 so i had no experience with a gaming console. It took me a total of 4 years i think lol. But this is because i had a break of about 2 years i think. I didn't use cheats or hints or anything and when i mean finishing it, i mean 120 stars.

Heh, mine is Flashback for SNES, I started it with 7 and finished it with 12. So it took me 5 years to finish it because my console was broken and when I finaly repaired it I finished the game.

There's this NES game called Dick Tracy (based on the film), but anyway, when I got it I was too young to understand what to do with the game so I would just run around doing things that really didn't furhter the progress of the game. In 1999 I picked the game up again and managed to figure out what to do (find clues and persecute the criminals those clues point at). It came out in 1990 so it took me 9 years to finish it. But maybe that doesn't count.

I remeber one of the star oceans for PS2 maybe, being advertized as being the longest game ever.

I still haven't beat Super Mario Bros., if that counts.  I haven't played it for ten years, but that's a long time.

My brother spent somewhere around 90 hours on Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.  He knows he didn't do everything before he stopped.

I did hear rumors before FFX came out that it was supposed to be a thousand hour game, but even the people repeating that rumor knew it couldn't be true.

Ghost n Ghouls is a long game because it takes so long to complete. The game is short, but it is very hard to complete.

The first time I tried to play The Secret of Monkey Island through... that took a long time. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's revenge was pretty long too.

I played FF X for 34 hours (won 1 blitzball match and did'nt play anymore) and I'm gonna fight meyster seymour for the last time.I have'nt done the sidequests or play blitzball or the chocobo racing part either.I'll do it just before Sin.The game should take atleast 120 hours (mostly because of blitzball) to complete.

FF X is a loong game. >:( and I hate blitzball! >:(

I have to agree 100% here ^. Golden Sun 2 and FFX are really long games. What makes them even longer to get through is the fact that GS2 has a few tough puzzles, and FFX has lots of hard boss battles to get through. Both are frustraitingly fun.
