SELF BOOTING XBOX 360 EXPERIENCE KIOSK DISK

Team PI have done it again! YES YOU CAN BURN THIS ISO AND PLAY IT IN YOUR XBOX-360 - they call it the big m$ muck up. Team Pi leaves you with this Pillow statement:"It seems Microsoft was in such a hurry to get this stuff out that they forgot to set the media protection on this disc. This leaves hackers with the posibility to hack around with this disc that load from a normal DVDR5 backup.
WHAT?!? You can burn 360 isos and play them no problem? buckle down ye 360 owners and get yourself a burner capable of burning 360 games and you are set for life! No mod chip! No swapping! It's the Dreamcast all over again!

As someone who hates the Xbox360 I find this rather.... amusing. This will also help me when I do get a 360 as i do not plan to buy games. Chances are they are going to fix this though. Ah well.

It appears that microsoft have got PWNED! That'll (hopefully) teach microsoft for hurrying consoles, and making mistakes in their development (This, the power brick, etc...).

I'm not even considering getting one, one reason why, because I'm not made of money, those things are so bl00dy expensive, and I don't have a HDTV, which over here are hidiously expensive.

Thaddius: I accidentally deleted Grim's post. Triforcemario did not double post.

To respond to Grim's post that I deleted instead of clicking 'quote', I only plan on getting one if I can get it cheap, not until the game library becomes a little stronger and maybe when the system starts dying and a new geenration is on the verge.

I read some earlier news on maxconsole and they talk about someone finding out that he could play a backup of gotham racing when he booted up with a real version of the same game and then hot swapped them.

The system seems not to care what disk you're using, as long as it's the right data.

My first statement may be innacurate, you may need to swap to get those running. But that is still very dreamcast-like. Hopefully it'll destroy the system like it did the DC.

Hey, wait a tic, history is repeating itself, you has seen that ytmnd page that shows the reasons why the 360 will fail like the DC, this is another reason.

I didn't understand it at first, but now I think I relaly got it.

Retail xbox360s cannot run isos... yet. But the xbox 360 kiosks in local gaming stores can.

maxconsole.net, and the folks who discivered this, are imploring hackers\coders to use this information to create a boot disc for retail xbox 360s.

Microsoft can't really do anything about it as changing anything on the 360 would result in newer games not working on older 360s, and they can't change the protection on the discs cause, again, older 360s wouldn't be able to read them... maybe.

Basically Microsoft is going to lose a LOT of money. Maybe they'll go back to just making games... kind of like what Sega ended up doing.

Isos would be nice, but the 360 can't even play all of the old Xbox games, could it?  I know someone who has one.  He said that Halo started up fine, but BattleFront 2 wouldn't work.

I know there are going to be patches and such for every game (something about changing graphics card companies, right?) but what would be the point of dling a bunch of isos if the 360 couldn't handle them yet anyways?

The 360 can't play a bunch of original xbox games, that's correct. But the system was designed to play 360 games and every 360 game works on it. If you download a 360 game and burned it it will work on an xbox 360 kiosk (those demo ones they have in stores). For now regular 360s won't play isos until someone comes up with a boot disc, which may be very soon.

Hmm... I wonder how other companies would react towards Microsoft's stupidity..
Sega would proabaly laugh their asses off because now they're not alone. Nintendo and Sony might be bowing down to their "god" right now >_>

You also might want to wait until people are actually running burned isos on retail 360s.
