Forums · this controller thingy i saw at the mall
you know those cool controllers they been selling these days? the ones that have like 5 games on them and you put in some batteries and hook it straight to your tv and just play? i noticed they have them for sega genesis games now.. i almost purchased one. it was a genesis controller with 5 games on it.. anyhow...to the point of this topic.
i was walking through the mall and saw one of those carts that had some video games playing on it.. familiar games. i went up and checked it out. this guy had these controllers for sell for 50 bucks that had 60 nintendo (8-bit) games on them. somehow they are uploading roms to these things and selling them.. does anyone know of this? i see a new era in this. i want to know more.. where did he get these things.. i spoke to him about how illegal it was and of course he got defensive about it but when he finally calmed down i told him how all these roms are on the internet if you just look for them. and he started asking me if i could get him frogger.. he said "everyone asks me if it has frogger on it" of course i didnt tell him anything i just said.. "just google it man.. you can find that stuff" but i got the impression that if he did find frogger then hed just upload it to his little controller things.. how the hell is he doing this? it made me think of the sega genesis controlers i saw for sell.. i can see people opening those things up and puting more games on them or changing the games that are installed on it, cuz its more then an emulater its a straight out sega genesis. anyhow.. any info would be apreciated.. thanks

I've seen those things before, and most of them are really cheap crap. For some reason I doubt that it's just uploading roms. Anyways, if that was what the guy was doing in the first place you'd think he'd either have every rom you could think of or would know how to get them already.
I don't think you can upload roms onto them, but you can modify them.
There was a genesis thing that someone found that looked like a tiny genesis and it ran on a few AAs (hooked up to your tv). Some guy took this, opened it up and found that the roms were on a small chip. He removed the chip and attached an acctual genesis cart slot so he can play acctual genesis games on it. He turned it into a portable genesis cause all the electronics were one quarter the size of a genesis.

I've got one of those mini megadrive things. ;D
I don't thin you could upload roms onto them, you might, because that benheck managed to upload a rom of golden axe 2 onto the romchip of that megadrive, I think, and also, if you're bored enough, you can add a catridge slot.
