I occasionly had to blow out my gameboy/color/advance catridges, or my N64 ones, but other than that, I never suffered as many problems from nintendo consoles as I did from consoles from other companys (for example, my PSX, suffered loads of problems, and when I called the sony helpline for help, they just laughed at me and cut the line).

They probably just told you it wasn't covered in your warrenty and told you where you could get it fixed for a price. Unless of course you phoned some random number that wasn't Sony's customer service, in which case, what you said probably happened.

Well actually, blowing into carts exascerbated the problem. What happened is you'd get dust in there, then you'd blow to fix it and the spit that would come out when you did so (whether you saw it or not) and it would damage the contacts making the cart worse off the next time. That was not a flaw in the system but in the user.

Compressed air or a cleaning kit are the two ways to avoid that.

been there done that. I used to blow on the cartridges all the time and they worked everytime i started the game up... i cant possibly see this as a problem.

NES Game Pak Troubleshooting

Note: It is possible that the problem you have may be game play related. For example, if you cannot defeat a particular enemy, or are missing an item you need to complete an area, the problem is likely game play-related and there is nothing wrong with your game. Please check our game play help for assistance. Otherwise, follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Insert the Game Pak into the system. The Game Pak label should be facing up as you slide it in (original NES) or towards the front of the system (New-Style NES).
  2. Make sure the Game Pak firmly clicks down into place.
  3. Remove all accessories to see if the Game Pak works correctly without the accessory. If the game does work correctly once the accessory is removed, then the game pak and the accessory may not be compatible. Check the game pak instruction manual.
  4. Do not blow into your Game Paks or systems. The moisture in your breath can corrode and contaminate the pin connectors.
  5. Cleaning the Game Pak with a Cleaning Wand may help remove any debris or contamination from your Game Paks.

Due to the age of the system, we no longer offer factory repairs directly from Nintendo. Please click here to find out what options are available for repair or replacement of your product.

[/quote]It wa definalty the sony helpline, since the first (and second) time I dialed them, they said some like "Hello there, this is the Sony helpline, how may I help you?", and my PSX was under warantry, I had only had it for 6 months.

It probably wasn't covered under the warranty then. Like I said. Not evrythign is under a warranty. Sony's notorious for shoddy systems with problems that are covered under the warranty.
I'm just saying I don't believe your story. That's all.
