Okay which country do you think produces better games?
Don't say something stupid like, "I like Halo, so America", okay? Dont be a noob.
Think about all the genre's, the consoles, creativity, etc.
_____

I say American games are better because:
1. They have great games throughout all the genres, while Japan only comes out with good rpgs, and hack and slashes, and the occasional weird game(katamari damacy).
2. The graphics from the US are usually better.
3. They have the xbox which blows away the ps2 and gamecube's hardware.
4. Usually dont have tedious missions, or weird-assed controls.

I think that American gaming companies are the most fit to cater specifically to an American market.  While the Japanese have the same interest in sales figures, American companies can provide the best to Americans because it is easier to be in tune with our gaming desires.

I like games that interest me, and don't really notice a ethnic difference unless it is obvious, i.e. the anime quality of Final Fantasy graphics.

Japanese games for me are better. RPGs are the main reason I said that because like what deep_dive said on his forst post, they made better RPGs all-around. Although they dont make FPS games like CS or Halo, their originality in terms of storyline and diverse gameplay idesas make it up for that.

I prefer American games because I find them more enjoyable. However when it comes to RPG's, Japanese games rule! In terms of consoles, the Xbox is by far better than the PS2 and Gamecube plus there aren't many confusing controls with the Xbox.

American games have more of the guide-you-by-the-hand action, like in games like Fable, or Psi-ops, where the first hour of the game is 'how to use it'. Most Japanese games assume you've read the manual and let you get right to the action.

The American games also look a lot different. The graphics are usually very unpolished, like the timeplsplitters games or Fable, or anything really, with many buggy things. most Lucasarts games these days have been terrible. And EA tends to crank out garbage with some good games sometimes.

Japanese companies like SquareEnix, Capcom and Konami do some great things. I'm not a big RPG fan but the RE series and Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid games are great.

Let us not forget the France company Ubisoft. they've done some great games too. Far Cry was great and the made-in-Canada Prince of Persia games are really fun.

In my opinion the US games are lacking in depth and story, and the graphics tend to be rushed, or nothing new.

The Japanese games continue to push the systems to thier limits and do a good job.

Nintendo keeps proving that you don't need a huge piece of hardware to make great games (the American-made Metroid Prime games are a good example) so my vote would go to the Japanese.

I personlly prefer japanese, why? because most american games are just too violent for my taste, and american developers for some reason seem to only consintrait on the graphics department of the game, then 2 days before the game is realesed, the developers suddenly discover that they forgot to put in a game engine, music, and everything exept graphics, so they quickly make a crappy game engine, add some rubbish rap music, and stick it on the shelves.

I agree with triforcemario, Americans usually forget some essential part of the game and either make the game crappy or procrastinate the release of the game. Japanese usually make great RPg's we all know but what some of us don't know is that the some of the american Rpgs were made earlier so that the Japanese version would be much better, example is that the American FFX was released early right? But when the Japanese version was realesed the voice overs were much better, the battle system was different, and Aeon Battles were much more fun. Other examples of this kind of thing would be Lara Croft Tomb Raider Games, and other Final Fantasy Games.

I really like RPG's so Id have to say Japanese games. They really add to the game and make it spectacular. Amercian companies leave out some stuff and thus the game has flaws.

I prefer japanese games since I find that a lot more work goes into them than american games, and are usually more fun and more imaginative.
