Here some intersting new for nes/zelda fans: (taken from www.n-next.com

A while back, there was an auction on eBay for an unreleased cartridge of The Legend of Zelda III for the NES. The auction went down, and the owner decided to get his hands on a NES to test the game. Well, he managed to get the game to boot, and although it's buggy, the game runs! He has promised to put gameplay shots on his site ASAP, but there's a pic of the title below.

Soon, the owner of this Beta catridge with post more screenshots on his site.
Remember this is not a fake, it appears that zelda 3 (link to the past) was originally made for the NES, but soon put on the SNES, hopefully, more updates will come soon...

Update: it appears that this game is about 50/60% complete, this means that it was nearly complete, and another update has appeared that this game is called: the legend of zelda: the triforce saga.

Ok,a new update, it appears that, from some research, that this game is no more than either:
A) A beta of links awakening, which was originally in develpment for the nes, or
B) Some low-life has made a homebrew rom, flashed it onto a nes cart, and put it on Ebay.

I think someone made it, I don't really think Nintendo would have really had a unreleased version of a Zelda game.

Zelda is one of nintendo's best titles. I believe they wouldn't do anything to mess the name up. So if this is real it means either, this game sucked so much that Nintendo just trashed it, or this game is a beta (mentioned earlier).

As I said in a previous post, this appears what could be Link's awakening, which is a GB game, and oringinally develped for the NES, and some research has been done, and it turns out this might be true, why? Because some bloke found an old Nintendo power article talking about Link's awakining, that some people at Nintendo power got to try the Beta version, and it said that the project was originally in develpment for the NES, intresting, isn't it?

The NES/SNES could not support beta games at all, you must dump it onto a ROM to play a beta game for a NES/SNES meaning that this was more then likely a homebrew game.

Also, I would like to add that there is a thing called zelda classic.
Very simple to make an old style zelda game, I made the map from Link's Awakening for my game. Anybody could do it and then convert it to work on a NES/SNES cartridge having it be a completed poorly made buggy homebrew game or just one big scam but overall, I believe it is a fake.

No matter what anyone say's it cost's an awful lot of money to get the equipment to play beta version's of NES/SNES games but it's free when you download the tool's off the internet and make it yourself. All you need then are a few act's from people around the world and the rest would follow.

No, just no. If it didn't, why the hell would they make them in the first place?  Why do people have them, and play them on their NES/SNES?  Also, why would it run on an emulator and not the actual NES?

You don't need special equipment, the betas are just regular cartridges.  Don't know where you got that from, but I wouldn't trust that source again.

I have to agree its Probably Bogus, nintendo would loose money. Or maybe there was problems with it that they thought that Zelda would get unpopular or something. But yea I was on newgrounds and I saw a sprite of Link, it was 2-d. NOt like the second legend of zelda for NES but I saw a sprite that looked liike Link it was on newgrounds. What game is it from ><!
