Ok, this poll is asking the GBX forum, "are games too easy these days?", I made this post after completing starfox assualt, and that was just way too easy, I mean, I completed in under a week, it just was not worth the money, and GTA san andreas, I completed that much quicker than Vice city or GTA3 (haven't even completed GTA3 yet!) and I have played many games recently that I've completed quite quickly, so, vote in the poll and post your opinion!

Is the question quicker or easier? Cause you seem to be confusing the two.

I don't think game developpers want us to be replaying the same part over and over again just to try and finish the game. Because of that they may be making it easier but for the express purpose of letting you finish the game.

If they are indeed getting shorter, allowing for quicker gameplay, it might be a standardization thing. Like how movies are all 2 hours long (around that) and anything shorter is called a 'short' and anything longer is called an 'epic'.

I don't think people really have time for the Star Ocean games our there. Who has that many hours to put into a game? You might begin to expect a solid 10 hours of gameplay from all games at some point. Seems like a nice round number.

What I mean is, do you think that games are easier/shorter these day, for example, back in the early '90s, with super mario world, that had 90 levels!, and super mario bros 3, late '80s, over 80 levels, now compare that with most games you get today, starfox assult is the best example, with only 10 bl00dy levels, I mean, that game had been in develpment for over 2 years, and Namco, a highly respected company, known for making some of the best plane combat simulators today, gave us one of the shortest games I've ever played, and I really do hope that games will be longer in the next generation (revolution, X-BOX 360, PS3)

I think games are getting much easier, compared to some of the games that we played on the NES, SNES, Genesis and Saturn. I mean a simple game like Pac-Man with so many levels was much harder and longer than most of the games these days.

But would you play a game that was too difficult?  If you knew there was an end and you just couldn't get past this one level, despite all of the hours put into multiple attempts?

The NES didn't have as large of an audience as the new consoles have.  They weren't expecting people to buy so many titles, so they gave quality(usually?) instead of quantity.  I know there are a lot of NES games out there, but I doubt they are as numerous as GCN games.  Its just a capitalistic system trying to make the largest profit.  If you beat a game and are left wanting more, then you will buy the next one.

But I do like games that take thirty-plus hours of gameplay.  I don't care if a game takes me a month or two, between everything else that I have to do.  But you say a week; how many gaming hours is that?  Because I know someone who was beating an rpg every four days, but that's because he spent every waking hour, and a few sleeping ones, playing them during the summer when he wasn't working.  Its your own fault if you took a thirty hour game in a week because you didn't slow down and enjoy it.  Moderation, in all things moderation.

We only think that new ps2,gc, xbox, gba and pc games are easier these days, because back in the 90's these snes, nes and sega games were so hard that we had to give up half way through. Some were easy, so yeah that was a relief.

What I want mostly is for games to be longer, and sometimes a little harder.

That's exactly what most people want. These days you can buy a title like Halo 2 or Metal Gear Solid 3 and you can beat it out very easily in probably just a few days which sucks because your hardly get to enjoy very much. >_<

The difficulty settings are buried in the options section somewhere. It makes my game tougher ;).

I think so too, MMZ 4 was sooooooooo easy, even Devil May Cry 3 was easy, people are making great games that don't have long term values, the difficulty set to insane.

On most of the games you guys have talked about, MMZ4 and HAlo 2, there are other difficulty settings that do make it a lot harder. I don't know how long it took you guys to beat Halo 2 on legendary but it didn't take me a day.
