Hoshigami for the playstation. Very interesting battle system but progressing without losing characters was soooo slooow. You could buy new mercs but they always start as crap, and it takes hours of training just them to get them up to where they guy that they were replacing used to be.
I agree with Onagi, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a very difficult game though I think there are much harder games out there which I haven't played yet.
Metroid games can be a little hard but you enjoy the gameplay. Ninja Gaiden was hard too but it also gave you a good challenge, it's also one of the best games for the Xbox.
contra games were very difficult, but did you ever tried to kill the final boss in Terranigma on Snes? I defeated that boss with hours of save/load state on zsnes

DBZ TLOG. It was hard, especially when fighting bosses. i ran like hell from everyone, and i rarely did melee. all i could do was KAMEHAMEHA. and it took my 5 days to get to level 25. i am so weak... :-[
I will say,Call of Duty, this is the only game that ever gave me competition or really made me want to give up,but to some people, this game is nothing but a piece of cake.
What about bettletoads for the nes? That was probable the hardest game ever, I've been to countless nes sites, and most claim they've only been able to complete it with cheat codes.
