I watched a documentory on tv the said that the earth emits huge gas bubbles which hit ships so powerful that it actually explodes the ship and the gas is called netting that makes the engines of plains burnout and eventually explode. I do not Know that for a fact but that is what I saw on Discovery channel.
I really can't say i know much about it. All i think is that there have been a few accidents there and the media has decided to make something out of it that it's not. I'm probably wrong but the media seems to blow a lot of things out of proportion just for a good story.

yep, exactly, the bubbles hit boat and sink them, mess with the compasses in boats/planes(forgot how), and is think enouch to mess up the turbine things on plane.

Now to knock the superstitious theories because i still turn to them once in a while, but this is what scientists believe.
The boats: Gas comes up from the ocean floor. Sure gas is always in and coming out of the ocean, but this is different. The theory is that the gas bubbles are either big enough or made of a special kind of gas, and ruins the boat's bouyancy. Boat sinks directly to the ocean floor, doesn't pass go, doesn't collect $200.
The planes: Some other people hit this one right on the head. The theory is that there's a magnetic disturbance in the Bermuda Triangle that messes up a plane's compass and <speculation>it's other navagational systems that rely on the compass or Earth's magnetic field</speculation>. The planes circle around until they run out of fuel and crash.
