It also emulates CDs and DVDs with certain copy protections as well.

Nero does not emulate the copy protections. If it does, it probably doesn't do it as well. Nero also takes up more resources and is not capable of burning all the ISO image formats that alcohol can. Alcohol is the most compatible burning software out there. Nero just...sucks.

to make a virtual drive u can also use clone cd or some other programs that save the cd in iso.
