go to vba options:
frame skip>>> check 4
frame skip>>>throttle>>check no throttle

video>>check vsync
video>>render method>>>check direct 3d or direct draw depends on wich u have check bfore. or just try the first 4, see which is better and emulates faster for ur pc.

emulation>>check synchronise,check real time clock.

remove some filters and lower the priority!

Did you even try to do what Smash suggested? It seems to me that you ignored his suggestion and simply re-installed the emulator.

No, even more likely he followed the suggestion. The fact is you should not make your frameskip 0. This will only slow your game down further. Set the frameskip to 4 or 5 and see if that speeds it up anymore, if it fixes it then you might be able to put it down to 3 and see if that's also ok. (Menu -> Options -> Frameskip). Also check 'Automatic'.

Giving your CPU Specs would also help a lot so we can tell you if your computer is even good enough.

i didnt know about the frame skip thing, but at 5 or 4 roms will look very lame.

if none of this work then try: http://www.zophar.net/Files/VisualBoyAdvanceCE10.zip
(i searched for it on all the forum, i got it from one of crazy life posts)

Yeah your completely right, 4 or 5 look really bad. But at least the ROM speed will speed up dramatically. Unless your playing an action game, 4 or 5 are normally playable, of course 1 or 2 are the most preferable speeds, and if your computer is good enough 0.

Oh yeah, good idea, VisualBoyAdvanceCE is a great third party version of the emulator.
